Terrence Howard Says Marvel Tried To Kill His Career & One-Sided Contract Led To His Exit From 'Iron Man' Series

Ever since it was revealed that Terrence Howard wouldn't be reprising his role in "Iron Man 2," ultimately replaced by Don Cheadle, there has been plenty of ink spilled about why the actor was bounced from the Marvel universe. Way back in 2008, EW reported that circa "Iron Man," it was Howard -- not comeback kid Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow or Jeff Bridges -- who was actually the best paid actor on that set. The first one to sign on, Marvel wasn't able to renegotiate his deal, but perhaps found another workaround. Rumors suggested that Howard was being difficult on set and/or the filmmakers weren't happy with his performance, leading to early drafts for "Iron Man 2" minimizing his participation. So when Marvel circled back to the actor for "Iron Man 2" with a much lower offer than the first movie, well, we'll let Howard take it from here....

Review: 'Dead Man Down' Is A Surprisingly Satisfying Revenge Movie That Combines B-Movie Aesthetics With European Artiness

"Dead Man Down," the new revenge movie that marks the domestic debut of Niels Arden Oplev, the Norwegian director behind the original Swedish version of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," doesn't have an extended title sequence. There are a couple of names of production companies and then the title and that's it. This is sort of strange, especially considering its impressive cast, which includes Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Isabelle Huppert and Terrence Howard. But everything about "Dead Man Down" is designed to catch you off guard, and most of the time it totally works, effortlessly mixing B-movie aesthetics with deeply contemplative European artiness. The result is a movie that is genuinely, totally unexpected.

Hitting the promo circuit to help get the word out about his film with Noomi Rapace and Colin Farrell, the actor has mostly succeeded in getting the word out about himself, easily and amazingly giving out his opinions on breasts, the election, his business endeavors and more. Frankly, his quotes stand out all on their own so we're just gonna lay 'em out for you, with and let his pure, unvarnished words say all they need to.

So, the anthology comedy "Movie 43" is coming to theaters this weekend, and yet despite the massive, star-driven cast, it seems the picture is being kinda buried. No press screenings seem to be happening, perhaps proving that you can round up as many big stars as you want, but if the material isn't there, they can't make it work. So in a bid to get you to buy a ticket, a full segment has dropped online and it will perhaps entertain you enough that you might just wander over to a theater to see it for curiousity's sake.

It's a good week for dream projects with Akiva Goldsman involved, with Warner Bros. helping to make them come true. With the studio now taking a very close look at Ron Howard's sprawling "The Dark Tower," they are also flipping the switch on the long developing "Winter's Tale." Set to mark Goldsman directorial debut, the fantasy will be led by Collin Farrell and "Downton Abbey" star Jessica Findlay-Brown with Will Smith and Russell Crowe in small roles, in the story that follows a thief who breaks into a wealthy man’s home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter with reincarnation, a flying horse, and a time-shift of 100 years all playing a part of the plot. William Hurt has now joined the film, and will be playing the father of the dying girl. Production begins in October.
