James Murphy Nick Cave
The line-up for the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival has been announced, and as usual, that means news of other creative types involved in some of your most anticipated films of the year. And usually, the reveals are music related. Yesterday’s announcements were not much different and unveiled a plethora of good talent involved in upcoming TIFF pictures.

The Two Faces Of January
“I love the cruelty in her writing,” "The Two Faces Of January" writer/director Hossein Amini said at the Sydney Film Festival (via Variety) about author Patricia Highsmith, whose novel serves as the source material for his film. “Viggo really embraces the ugly side of characters…not a lot of stars do.” And you can see how ugly Viggo Mortensen gets with this new trailer for the thriller.

The Two Faces Of January
Before you’ll see him running around in a galaxy far, far away next year, Oscar Isaac will be running around in the Mediterranean helping Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst deal with a dead body in Hossein Amini’s directorial debut “The Two Faces Of January.” A new clip from the film plus a brand new behind-the-scene featurette have landed online for your viewing pleasure.

Viggo Mortensen Throws Shade On Peter Jackson; Says ‘Lord Of The Rings’ & ‘Hobbit’ Films Sacrificed Subtlety To CGI

Viggo Mortensen Lord Of The Rings
If “The Lord Of the Rings” movies were universally beloved with Peter Jackson sweeping the Oscars for “Return Of The King” as a kind of “well done” overall achievement award, then his “Hobbit” films thus far have received possibly the opposite response (or at least a far more divisive one). Jackson’s predisposition for CGI seems to have taken over from practical effects and not only have fans noticed.

The Salvation
Competition is obviously the most prestigious place to play during the Cannes Film Festival, but the riches of the fest is such that the sidebar sections often have terrific discoveries too. Two new first looks have arrived from two films playing outside competition. The first is Lisandro Alonso’s “Jauja” starring Viggo Mortensen. It’s playing in the Un Certain Regard section alongside films like Ryan Gosling’s debut “Lost River” and Ned Benson’s “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby.”

The Two Faces Of January
Sometimes, you just want to watch a trio of actors bite into some decent material and have at it. And that's the hope for "The Two Faces Of January," which brings together Oscar Isaac, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen for a sun-baked thriller.

The Two Faces Of January
A sun-dappled backdrop against which intrigue, murder and romance play out sounds right up our alley, and certainly, the associated names with "The Two Faces of January" are impressive. It's based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith ("The Talented Mr. Ripley"), is written and directed by Hossein Amini (the guy who penned "Drive") and it features three excellent leads: Oscar Isaac, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen. And certainly, this first clip from the film shows some promise.

No, Viggo Mortensen isn't starring in some new Marvel movie, despite the name of the developing drama "Captain Fantastic." Instead, the actor will be joining "28 Hotel Rooms" director Matt Ross' film about "an idealistic father who, after a decade of living off the grid in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, must return with his six young kids to assimilate back into society."

The Two Faces Of January
On paper, there are any number of reasons to be excited for "The Two Faces of January," which screens during the Berlin Film Festival this week. The three leads, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Oscar Isaac are all actors we admire, the director may be a first-timer in this role, but Hossein Amini is the high-profile screenwriter of "Drive" and "Snow White and the Hunstman" and, beyond that, it's based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, whose books have previously yielded such films as "The Talented Mr Ripley," "Strangers on a Train," and the underseen "Ripley's Game."

The Two Faces Of January
While "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Nymphomaniac" and "The Monuments Men" have largely taken the spotlight at the Berlin Film Festival, that's not the only star power walking the red carpet. The thriller "The Two Faces Of January" is getting set to unspool and the first trailer is here for the sun baked thriller.
