Vince Vaughn could probably use a comeback at this point. After "Wedding Crashers" revived his career back in 2005, he was briefly one of the more reliable comedy leading men, but it's four years since one of his films, "Couples Retreat," made any serious coin, with "The Dilemma" and "The Watch" both proving serious box office disappointments. He's reteaming with "Wedding Crashers" co-star Owen Wilson in a few weeks for "The Internship," but could his real comeback vehicle come in the shape of "Delivery Man?"

The Internship
Making a movie at Google’s headquarters featuring a plot that’s largely centered around Google probably has its share of perks. One of which would be the extra (free?) online advertising from two of top three most popular websites on the internet, including the Google-owned YouTube, of course. Now that “The Internship” will be out everywhere in theaters in just two weeks, an amusing little short film featuring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio from “Parks and Recreation”) has popped up on the site for YouTube Comedy Week, and it’s definitely not an advertisement for “The Internship.” Except of course it totally is.

Vince Vaughn’s film career has certainly had its share of highs and lows. He broke through early on with a memorable (and endlessly quotable) performance in “Swingers,” but followed that with a series of dramatic roles in poorly received movies (the “Psycho” remake). Then “Old School” came along, which showed him following through on the comedic promise that he showcased in “Swingers.” His career came to an apex with 2005’s “Wedding Crashers” which was the surprise hit of that summer. Unfortunately, he’d soon follow that up with formulaic romantic comedies (“The Break-Up”), lame Christmas movies (“Fred Claus”), and whatever “The Watch” was supposed to be. But he’s got “The Internship,” which comes out next month, and it sees him collaborating with Owen Wilson for the first time since 'Crashers.' Could this be the beginning of another high, or simply another dud? Well, Paramount Pictures is hoping it’s the former.

As much as we're hoping that "The Internship" will be a guilty comedy pleasure this summer, the news that it's coming with a PG-13 rating is a bit of bummer. While director Shawn Levy told Collider that they had also shot R-rated versions of jokes and gags (presumably for a future unrated home video edition), we think going PG-13 into theaters is a bit of an ill-advised move here. Who wants to go see Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in a sanitized comedy, when they delivered a smash R-rated hit with "Wedding Crashers"? And with stuff like "Bridesmaids" and of course "The Hangover" proving to be mega-hits with the R stamp, why not let the F-bombs fly?

That 'Dodgeball' Sequel You've Been Waiting For Moves Forward As A New Writer Is Hired

2014 will mark the tenth anniversary of "Dodgeball," which makes us feel very, very old. And the movie is a curious one, a comedy with a ludicrous concept fronted by Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller that was made for peanuts, and had zero expectations, that somehow became a box office smash and a behemoth on home video as well. And for all of these years, a sequel has been kicked around as an idea without ever getting anywhere. Until today.

Tribeca Review: 'A Case Of You' Is A Painfully Insipid Rom-Com For The Social Media Generation

It was only a matter of time before someone tried to fully exploit our current social media communication age for the evils of the generic romantic comedy and "A Case Of You," a new Justin Long-led rom-com, does just that; abusing the Facebook platform to create the first creepy FB stalker comedy. Somehow, everything creepy and vile in this Kat Coiro-directed comedy ("L!fe Happens") is meant to seem comically cute and not the restraining-order freaky that it clearly is. Like all of these meretricious and morally-reprehensible culture-farts, it’s presented as harmless and adorable at heart, but as the central quintessentially dorky character becomes more and more fawning and subservient, the actors themselves seem border on queasiness.

The Internship
I'm going to Cannes next month, yet I'm also looking forward to "The Internship." Such are the contradictions in life. Sometimes you just want to sit back and watch two old pros, and good pals, just get up on the big screen and riff and jazz with comic lines all over the place. Will it win any awards? Nope. Will it be a dumb movie with some enjoyable turns from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson? Frankly, it it does that, it will meet my highest expectation.

At one point, Vince Vaughn was really trying to line up some serious movies. In 2012, his name got linked to the thriller "The Risk Agent," the Randall Wallace-penned "Gunslingers" and the action flick "Triple Time." But maybe folks really just want to see him quip and be a hilarious jackass, because that's what he does so well, and it seems the actor is realizing this too.

Nicole Kidman doesn't do comedies very often (besides "Stoker" ZING!), but maybe she should, because she can be quite funny. Say what you will about the otherwise horrid "Just Go With It," but Kidman is pretty spot on beside a surprisingly hilarious Dave Matthews. Really. But all of this is just preamble, because it looks like the reach of Ron Burgundy knows no bounds.

There are times, on this very site, when we cry out for originality, for Hollywood to stop lazily packaging movies and shoveling them into the marketplace. This is not one of those times. Yes, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have made this movie a half dozen times already, but whatever, we'll gladly watch one more.
