If you're a foreign actor who suddenly finds themselves thrust to Hollywood fame thanks to home-grown success and some awards attention, there are one of two routes you can take. You can keep plugging on much as you did before, making films at home, and hoping they catch on in the same way (see: Roberto Benigni). Or you can take the Hollywood dollar, often involving a bad guy or love interest role in some big blockbuster (see: Marion Cotillard, or original "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist, recently seen playing the world's least intersting female lead and bad guy in, respectively, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol").

With James McAvoy already on board Danny Boyle's next film, the thriller "Trance," the two names alone would basically attract any willing and able actor in Hollywood for a part. Indeed, Michael Fassbender was initially attached before dropping out due to scheduling issues, and Colin Firth's name was wishlisted for the co-starring role. And just a couple of weeks ago, it was revealed that Vincent Cassel was in the running for the juicy role. Well, he's nabbed it and one more actress in coming along as well.

It's an offer story! So don't put too much in this yet as it just means some phone calls are being made and not much else. But still, when it comes something like Danny Boyle's forthcoming "Trance," we suppose we'll have to take updates where we can.

It looks like Vincent Cassel's agent has had a busy week. Just two days after it was revealed that the actor was set to star in the sequel "Dobermann 2: Arm Wrestle," Cassel has lined up yet another project.

No country loves the crime genre quite as much as the French. Sure, it might have been derived from the States, but it was the French who really took it to their hearts, giving directors like Sam Fuller and Alfred Hitchcock the critical respect they craved, and reinventing it with the likes of "À bout de souffle" and "Rififi," while many of the best recent examples, like Jacques Audiard's "The Beat That My Heart Skipped" and "A Prophet," came from France. And if the French crime picture has one actor firmly associated with the genre, their Robert De Niro or Al Pacino, it's Vincent Cassel.

With only 3 feature films to his credit over the last 12 years, Spike Jonze has still managed to keep busy in the world of commercials and the occasional music video. His latest is a collaboration between world reknown cellist Yo-Yo Ma and famed LA dancer Lil Buck. (As a member of The Playlist staff put it "that kid is like spaghetti.") It's more a case of Jonze assembling these two artists in one place and less of a Jonze directed short film, but it's still pretty unbelievable to watch. Jonze says this of the project, "The other day, I was lucky enough to be at an event to bring the arts back into schools and got to see an amazing collaboration between Yo-Yo Ma and a young dancer in LA, Lil Buck. Someone who knows Yo-Yo Ma had seen Lil Buck on YouTube and put them together. The dancing is Lil Buck's own creation and unlike anything I've seen. Hope you enjoy."

With "Black Swan" collecting four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, capping off a very successful awards season run and boosting the film's already impressive box office numbers, Darren Aronofsky isn't quite finished working with the stars on the film.
