Paul Bettany & Matthew Goode: two talented British actors and veterans of both rom-com ("Wimbledon," "Leap Year") and terrible comic book movies ("Priest," "Watchmen"), in search of a boost to the next level. Things are already looking up for both; Bettany impresses in new cop thriller "Blood," and Goode looks to have a juicy role in Park Chan-Wook's "Stoker" early next year. And now the pair are teaming up for the Falklands War-era thriller "Destroyer." Based on the sinking of the HMS Coventry at the end of the 1980s conflict between the UK and Argentina, it's directed by Tom Shankland ("The Children," "The Fades"), and shooting gets underway early next year.

It's a good week for dream projects with Akiva Goldsman involved, with Warner Bros. helping to make them come true. With the studio now taking a very close look at Ron Howard's sprawling "The Dark Tower," they are also flipping the switch on the long developing "Winter's Tale." Set to mark Goldsman directorial debut, the fantasy will be led by Collin Farrell and "Downton Abbey" star Jessica Findlay-Brown with Will Smith and Russell Crowe in small roles, in the story that follows a thief who breaks into a wealthy man’s home, sparking a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter with reincarnation, a flying horse, and a time-shift of 100 years all playing a part of the plot. William Hurt has now joined the film, and will be playing the father of the dying girl. Production begins in October.

Slowly shaping up to be one of the more unique productions this year, “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” has gradually acquired a talented cast fit for its two-film premise -- that of a troubled marriage told, in each installment, from the husband and the wife's perspective. A few weeks back Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy were locked in as the couple, and now a slew of new names have come up just as the film heads into shooting.

The are few works that have been more revered and adapted than "The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov. The Russian master's play, written over 100 years ago, still forms the basis for countless new stage iterations -- both professional and amateur -- inspired a ballet and an opera, but oddly enough, has never had a splashy big-screen version. Until now.

They’re in for a treat because less than six months after the last ‘Twilight’ movie comes out, Meyer’s latest novel, “The Host,” comes to life on the big screen on March 29, 2013.
