Zac Efron, Neighbors
What happens when one grown man and another slightly grown man can't along when they live next door to each other? Hijinks, and lots of it, if this new trailer for "Neighbors" is anything to go by.

One of the surprise hits of the year was this summer’s cheap Ethan Hawke-starring horror movie “The Purge,” and with the $3 million-budgeted film making nearly $90 million worldwide, you better believe Universal wants a re-up.

Indie thrillers, franchises and family movies—it's a wild mix in this casting round up, so let's to it. First up, Nicholas Hoult has replaced Zac Efron in the upcoming "Autobahn." Set to be written and directed by Eran Creevy, who made some waves this year with his thriller "Welcome To The Punch," the movie follows a backpacker and his girlfriend (to played by Amber Heard), who is hired by German drug smugglers, only for the job to go south and be forced to flee on the freeways of the title.

It was inevitable that at some point, another group of dudes would try and replicate the easy, raunchy camaraderie of the Apatow gang (i.e. everyone who was in "The Is the End"). And while we really like the dudes in "That Awkward Moment," this attempt at being just like that relatable bunch of bros doesn't quite work, though that may be because underneath all the supposed attitude is a rom-com in waiting.

Review: JFK Drama 'Parkland' Starring Zac Efron, Paul Giamatti & More Feels Like A Cheap Cash-In

Parkland
Ever since "PT 109," which detailed his WWII war record and was released while he was still in office, President John F. Kennedy has been catnip to Hollywood. After all, he was good looking, charismatic, had a dark secret life of womanising, among other things, and of course, was assassinated three years into his presidency—an event that inspires debate and conspiracy theories to this day. He's been the subject of great films (Oliver Stone's "JFK") and bad ones (recent miniseries "The Kennedys"), and been played by everyone from Cliff Robertson to James Marsden (in "Lee Daniels' The Butler"). This November marks the 50th anniversary of his assassination in Dealey Plaza, and as such, it was inevitable that there'd be some kind of film to mark the occasion. We just wish it wasn't as terrible as "Parkland."

Parkland, Efron
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, undoubtedly one of the central flashpoints of the modern American experience and a singular event that has inspired as much theorizing, speculation, and conjecture as any in history. Perhaps it is a result of its insolubility that it retains such an ability to capture our imagination endlessly, whatever the reason, the books and films keep on coming. The latest in JFK-assassination-related ephemera is "Parkland," a drama that looks at the events immediately following the president's murder, through a prism of characters who were on the ground in Dallas. The large ensemble includes Zac Efron, Paul Giamatti (as Zapruder!), Billy Bob Thornton, James Badge Dale, Jacki Weaver, Colin Hanks and Marcia Gay Harden. Now the first clip and a bunch of stills have been unveiled, so start your theorizing.

Zac Efron, Neighbors
Well here's a twist on two actors subverting their stereotypes. On the one hand, there's former Disney boy toy Zac Efron and on the other is pot connoisseur and slacker specialist Seth Rogen. So in the upcoming "Neighbors," guess which one is playing the frat boy?

Well, this should be par for the course, especially in the weeks leading up to D23, the annual Disney fan convention (basically their version of San Diego Comic-Con), where Lucasfilm is expected to have a heavy presence, but hey—here's some wild speculation about who will wind up in J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII"! According to Latino Review, two stars who have had meetings with the Mouse House in regards to 'Star Wars' are none other than Ryan Gosling and former Disney whiz kid Zac Efron. No word on who Efron read for, but Gosling supposedly spoke about becoming a part of the Skywalker family as Luke's son. Also they claim that Leonardo DiCaprio met with the team but was ruled out. Okay then.

Even if we wouldn't say he's quite cracked it yet, we've got a lot of respect for the way that Zac Efron is trying to establish himself as a proper grown-up adult actor. After all, the "High School Musical" series would be an albatross for many, but Efron's quietly been banging out a diverse mix of parts, and while things like "The Paperboy" and "At Any Price" haven't quite paid off yet, he's heading in the right direction. The actor's got several promising projects in the can already, including rom-com "Are We Officially Dating?," JFK ensemble drama "Parkland" and Seth Rogen/Nick Stoller comedy "Townies," and now, hot on the back of signing on to Eran Creevy's "Autobahn," the actor's just lined up thriller "Narc." Sounding a bit like a laugh-free "21 Jump Street," the project's being described as a based-in-fact, college-set version of "Donnie Brasco," and will see the actor play a fratboy who's busted for cocaine possession, and who agrees to become an informant to avoid jail time. The film's set up at Fox
