Around this time last year, we were gearing up for another kind of political movie with George Clooney's "Ides of March." It had a fancy Venice festival premiere lined up and an awards-ready fall release date and...well, "The Campaign" isn't quite like that movie. At all. Instead of Clooney and Ryan Gosling squaring off, we've got Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, and following the recent restricted trailer, the studio has dropped a batch of new pics from the flick hoping you'll vote with your dollars in a couple of weeks.

With a couple weeks to go before "The Campaign" hits theaters, the Warner Bros. marketing department is beginning the home stretch to get moviegoers to the ballot box box office for the Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis comedy. And they're now letting audiences see why the movie landed an R-rating.

Good news, guys! Not only is the "Arrested Development" movie getting made, but it's going to get a sequel! And they're both going to win Oscars, too! That's according to Chloe Moretz anyway, who's been to the future, so she should know. And, like Zach Galifianakis, you'll also be able to have a radio inserted in your head that plays tuba music whenever you want.

Listen, we know Warner Bros. has been busy with "The Dark Knight Rises," but that doesn't excuse the marketing for the upcoming "The Campaign" being so...lifeless. Mostly relying on jokey pairs of posters (see the latest here) and, well, that's about it, the film doesn't yet feel like the kind of classic a Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis pairing should bring about.

Well, the Warner Bros. campaign for "The Campaign" is underway. GET IT!? Yes, that was supremely lame, but we can pretty much guarantee that Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis will pair up to deliver more laughs than that in their upcoming effort.

While we're generally fans of the kind of programming HBO tends to support, their decision to cancel "Bored To Death" at the end of last year was heartbreaking. While the show was not a huge hit, over three excellent seasons it developed a cult following and was one of the funniest, wittiest shows on television. And the show didn't go quietly into the night either -- a minor online campaign started up to try and persuade HBO to keep the show going. And it looks like they've been listening.

While the youngsters of "Project X" filled out Warner Bros. dudes-getting-drunk-and-into-trouble niche this year to the tune of $94 million worldwide (not bad for a low budget movie with no big names attached to it), in 2013 The Wolfpack will be back to show 'em how it's done in "The Hangover Part III." And while chatter has been pretty steady ever since "The Hangover Part II" about what the final entry of the series will involve, it now seems like a clearer picture is emerging of what the movie will entail.

Is the political comedy "The Campaign" going to resonate with voters who are gearing up for the 2012 U.S. Presidential election later this year? Is this the closest thing we're going to get to a Seth Galifianakis movie? Seth, of course, being the hilarious "fake brother" character Zach Galifianakis created early on his career who is fey and effeminate and feels and sounds an awful lot like the character Galifianakis plays in this film. We'll soon find out.

When you talk dream projects that you wish could become resurrected -- something we do for shits and giggles from time to time -- very high on our list is John Kennedy Toole's posthumously-published, picaresque novel "A Confederacy of Dunces" (published in 1980, eleven years after the author's suicide at the age of 32). Steven Soderbergh and Scott Kramer (producer for "The Limey") wrote a screenplay in the late '90s (we still have a copy lying around somewhere) and in the early aughts, they attached David Gordon Green to direct circa "Undertow," and names like Will Ferrell, Mos Def, and Drew Barrymore circulated for the lead roles (Barrymore would have co-produced).

In some ways, it looks like Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are doing some recycling for "The Campaign." The former has essentially tweaked his George W. Bush while the latter has done the same with his alter ego "brother" Seth and the result is...well, not exactly as hilarious as we might have hoped. But there are enough amusing moments in the first trailer that may least point to a decent matinee diversion.
