One of our most anticipated indie films hitting this summer sees the long-awaited return of "Little Miss Sunshine" directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who haven't been seen since their Oscar-conquering 2006 Sundance hit. So what did it take to bring them back into the limelight? A teaming with indie-darling Zoe Kazan and her boyfriend Paul Dano on the whimisical-sounding, Charlie Kaufman-esque dramedy "Ruby Sparks."

Improbable, fantastical and romantic, "Ruby Sparks" is the belated follow-up to Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris' four-time Oscar-nominated debut, "Little Miss Sunshine." It's been six years since that film -- the duo has been stuck in multi-project development hell -- and they've returned with a story that's about a novelist struggling with writer's block who finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then actually, somehow, inexplicably willing her into existence.

Love will turn you upside down, inside out and take you the dizzying heights of rapture and the depths of despair. And somewhere all of those collide in the woozy and charming trailer for "Ruby Sparks," the latest from "Little Miss Sunshine" directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (and their first film since their breakout hit).

It's been six years since husband and wife filmmaking duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris directed their critical acclaimed indie dramedy "Little Miss Sunshine" which was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture that year. Their Academy plaudits got them juice, but several projects they attached themselves to just couldn't come together.

As far as indie matchups go, pairing Zoe Kazan and Jake Johnson? Yeah, we don't even need to know what it's about, and we'll be there. But in case you need a few more details to go on, read below.

Despite their debut feature "Little Miss Sunshine" being the toast of Sundance, becoming a sleeper box-office hit, and picking up a Best Picture Academy Award nomination (as well as winning the Oscars for Supporting Actor Alan Arkin and Michael Arndt's screenplay), directing couple Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris have taken a while to follow it up. The filmmakers had various projects circulating, including the adaptation of Tom Perrotta's "The Abstinence Teacher," Demetri Martin's fantastical comedy "Will," which would have co-starred Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis, and the long-gestating comedy "Used Guys."

News of the film adaptation of Neil LaBute’s play, “Some Girls,” has been slim the past few months, with Kristen Bell coming on board a couple of days ago, and Adam Brody joining back in January, but recently a slew of impressive additions have emerged for the Jennifer Getzinger-directed film.

There are certainly some pretty horrible film titles that get churned out on a regular basis, and while they probably mean little in the grand scheme of things, naming a movie is still something Hollywood takes very seriously. On that note, it looks like a trio of highly anticipated films have had their titles put under the microscope recently, with two now set for changes and one gaining its first name.

Well here's a bit of a switcheroo. It was only a couple of weeks ago that it was reported that Abigail Spencer (best known for her stint on "Mad Men") would be taking the lead in the Joss Whedon-penned "In Your Eyes." But as she's gearing up to make to star in and produce her script "Wrong Number" (co-produced by the omnipresent James Franco, of course), this spring, perhaps she thought it wise to give herself some time to get prepared. But no matter, "In Your Eyes" has rebounded with a more than capable replacement.

And 7 Other Things We Learned From Michelle Williams, Zoe Kazan & The Director Who Kept Her Actors In The Dark Back in September of 2009, we heard the quiet rumblings of a new Kelly Reichardt film, thanks to an interview with confidante/sometimes-producer Larry Fessenden with the A.V. Club. The film sounded like a micro-budgeted, anti-Western and we set it high on our anticipated list, waiting patiently for more inklings of news.
