Alan Partridge Steve Coogan

Steve Coogan has been in countless films throughout his career, but devout fans of the actor have been clambering for a feature-length film of his iconic character, Alan Partridge.  The story of a talk-show host turned regional radio DJ will be seeing big screens in August (in the U.K.) when “Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa” comes to theaters.

The trailer came out a month ago, but now there’s news on the soundtrack which appears to be as in love with the main character as fans are; out of the whopping 41-tracks listed, thirteen are quotes from Coogan’s Partridge character. Hopefully, it’s proof of the crackling script. It also appears we’ll be going back in time to the 1980s with artists such as Carly Simon, The Police, The Human League and Chicago alongside newer folks like Calvin Harris. And there's a pretty iconic piece by Philip Glass as well.

You can check out the full playlist below. There’s no word on U.S. distribution for either “Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa” nor its soundtrack, so import is the best way if you want to rock out with Partridge.  If you live in the U.K., you can see the film and listen to the music on August 9th. Full details, samples from the soundtrack and a clip from the movie below. [Film Music Reporter]
