James Gray Talks Sci-Fi Project
Recap: 'Arrested Development'
Review: 'The Immigrant'Deadline reports that the company you buy your books from is in negotiations with Sony Pictures TV to snap up the project, with a straight-to-series order in the offing. The irony here, somewhat, is that "Zombieland" was first conceived as a TV series before it was even a movie. And then when the movie became a smash hit, the idea of continuing the brand on the small screen was brought up, and development has been happening for years. Back in 2011, Fox was looking at it, with the possibility of bringing it to the airwaves in 2012-2013, but obviously that never came to pass.
Original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will be back to write and produce, along with Gavin Polone flexing his producing muscle, but Ruben Fleischer won't be involved. Instead, Eli Craig of "Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil" is in talks to direct. With "The Walking Dead" proving to be a hit, and "World War Z" and "Warm Bodies" on the way, Amazon is hoping the hunger (ha) for zombies is still plentiful. No word yet on who will fill the roles.
