10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesFirst up, Amy Ryan ("Win Win," "Gone Baby Gone") and Dane DeHaan ("Lawless," "Chronicle") are set to join the growing cast of Atom Egoyan's West Memphis Three drama "The Devil's Knot." Scheduling still needs to be worked out for both actors (DeHaan is getting married -- congratulations!), but should they sign on, Ryan will play the soon to be ex-wife of lead investigator Ron Lax (Colin Firth) while DeHaan will play a teenager who has a history with the accused teens. The duo join a cast that includes Reese Witherspoon, Mirielle Enos and Alessandro Nivola, with Collette Wolfe, Justin Castor and Kris Polaha along coming on board in recently. Shooting is set to kick off later this month.
Meanwhile, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and Paula Patton get a new friend to play with in "2 Guns." Bill Pullman Paxton has come aboard the action flick as a CIA operative, in the story penned by Blake Masters and based on the graphic novel by Steven Grant, that follows two lawmen—a DEA agent and an undercover naval officer—who investigate each other as each have been tasked to steal mob money. "Contraband" director Baltasar Kormakur takes the helm of the project that was formerly assigned to David O. Russell, and we presume it starts shooting soon. [Variety/Deadline/Variety]
