10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesFirst we'll start off with Mike Cahill, the rookie of the pair, who made a splash at Sundance in 2011 with the twisty sci-fi drama "Another Earth" starring Brit Marling. Well, he's staying within that realm as he gears up "iOrigins," a story that will take place on a larger canvas. The plot centers on a doctor, on the brink of a scientific breakthrough that will have historical ramifications, who travels to India to meet a young girl who can make or break his theory. Said to be a picture that will "mine the emotional side of science," casting is currently underway, but no start date has been confirmed. Either way, it sounds pretty fascinating.
Meanwhile, Kim Jee-woon, who makes his English-language debut with the Arnold Schwarzenegger comeback vehicle "The Last Stand" next month, is ready to tackle an anime favorite. The helmer will bring a live action version of "Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade" to the big screen. The original 1999 film by Okiura Hiroyuki is considered a stone cold classic, but nonetheless, we're pretty curious to see how Kim will approach a story set in a parallel universe where the Nazis won World War II and Japan is now a military state. This new version will be titled "Inrang," and it certainly sounds ambitious, but still a ways off as it's still in early stages. Check out the trailer for the original below. [Hollywood/Twitch]
