Review: 'The Immigrant'
The interesting premise will feature Dancy and Pryce as doctors in Victorian-era London "treating cases of hysteria, a condition said to be characterized at the time by a woman's irritability, anger or unexplained tears. Dancy's character and his best friend, portrayed by Everett, experiment with a new electrical device for treatment for the ailment. Gyllenhaal portrays the daughter of Pryce's character." We presume that Gyllenhaal's character finds out the device really, uh, works and then has to tell crusty old Dad about it leading to the most awkward conversation ever.
Filming begins Monday in London, and it will also be shooting Luxembourg. No release date or distributor has been set just yet.

Not true. The script was written before the Ruhl play and took many years to get funded.

This movie is so absurd... They took the idea of Sarah Ruhl's play "In the Next Room (or The Vibrator Play)" but didn't want to pay for it...
