10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesAtticus Ross, best known for working with Trent Reznor on the scores for "The Social Network" and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo," had been hired this past spring to tune up the movie, but Film Music Reporter reveals he's been replaced by Javier Navarette. While he doesn't have the cool cachet of Ross, he is probably best known for his Oscar nominated work on Guillermo Del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth," and his recent work includes Philip Kaufman's HBO movie "Hemingway & Gellhorn," "Wrath Of The Titans" and Neil Jordan's vampire flick "Byzantium." So genre fare is something he's more than familiar with.
No word why Ross bowed out, though perhaps delays on the film affected his scheduling, but Navarette isn't a bad substitute at all. Barring any other disasters, "47 Ronin" will go on duty December 25, 2013.

I imagine Atticus Ross bowed out due to the release of How To Destroy Angels' full-length album due early next year. Their John Hillcoat-directed video for "Ice Age" has just had its debut.
