10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesWhile the title may evoke some kind of futuristic spy movie, instead the film will find Diaz playing recent divorcee Mary Kay Curly, who cannot catch a break. Desperate to protect the two most important things in her life, her kids and her real estate agent job, Mary Kay agrees to take on an unpleasant task for her boss that accidentally gets her kidnapped and tossed into the center of a Mexican drug war. Armed with little more than her maternal instincts and a streak of pure dumb luck, Mary Kay must overcome incredible odds and outsmart the FBI, various underground crime lords and an international terrorist organization -- in time to make it home for dinner. We're guessing Katherine Heigl wasn't available to do this.
Anyway, no word on Del Toro's role (and man, he could be doing better things), but for Diaz, who recently joined Ridley Scott's "The Counselor," it seems it's one step forward, three steps back. Filming will kick off in September, with Adam Hashemi making his feature film directing debut. "Agent: Century 21" will be repped at Cannes for buyers by Exclusive Media who are producing and financing the pic.
