As you continue to argue and fight over our list of Every Best Picture Oscar Winner Ranked Worst To Best, here's another way to take a trip down memory lane before the show this Sunday night.

The folks over Beutler Ink have put together a pretty terrific visual guide to every Oscar Best Picture winner in history. The catch is that they've given each movie its own graphic icon, and it's up to you to figure what the movie is. For anyone who deems themselves an Oscar expert or movie buff, it's a pretty fun way to test your knowledge (you can can scope out the answers on the larger version of the poster right here, at the bottom). And after you're done doing that you can check out the badges created for the nine Best Picture nominees this year. Get crackin'... [Shortlist]

Is this poster available for purchase/printing?

I don't understand what Crash or American Beauty's icons are exactly ... (the films iconographies were easy to understand, though)

The one from Crash is the St. Christopher statue Larenz Tate and Ryan Phillippe have (though I didn't know that's what a St. Christopher statue looked like).

American Beauty is the floating bag, but Crash has me stumped.

Why the broken glasses for Godfather 2? Isn't that image from Godfather 1 (where Moe Green gets shot through the eye)?

Hi there, I'm the "Beutler" of Beutler Ink and... I'm afraid you have an excellent point. It's my faulty memory for thinking the Moe Greene Special was in Part II. We're actually going to update this (and make the final available for purchase) after the Oscars, so this will be a thing to revise. Thanks!

Yes, exactly. That image has nothing to do with The Godfather: Part II.

  • cranly | February 26, 2014 5:17 PMReply

What is 'The Godfather: Part II' image meant to be referencing?

Aren't the years wrong? Argo won in 2013 not 2012

  • Adrien | February 26, 2014 5:12 PM

Argo was awarded best picture of 2012 during the 2013 Academy Award !
