Even though the World Series is over, here's a bit of baseball talk for those of you missing the old ballgame. Over the summer it was reported that Casey Affleck was cooking up a biopic about ballplayer Josh Hamilton that he would write and direct, and now it has inched forward a little bit.

Deadline reports that Relativity snapped up the rights with Affleck and Hamilton, as well as for his book "Beyond Belief: Finding The Strength To Come Back." The film will tell the story of the American League slugger, who rose from a potentially crippling addiction to crack to become one of the most feared sluggers in Major League Baseball. It’s a powerful tale about a man who quite literally went from being one of baseball’s most promising players to cleaning toilets, then back to being a baseball great. Okay, sounds cool, but this is still probably a ways off.

It doesn't look like a script is written up yet and the development process can take a while and....is anyone really asking for a Josh Hamilton movie? Dude is still playing ball (and is currently a free agent) and so his story seems half told, though we suppose if it just focuses on the redemption tale, that would be something. Franky, we'd much rather Casey and Ben Affleck do their New York Yankee's wife-swapping pic "The Trade," but legal woes will probably prevent it from going anytime soon. So perhaps this will scratch the baseball itch, but for now, it's still in the bullpen warming up.
