Casting: Bradley Cooper & Todd Phillips To Reteam For 'Mack Bolan,' Keanu Reeves Gets Wet In 'Rain' & More

Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper continue to bro out in a big way. The two are producing the director's next film, "Arms & The Dudes," recently picked up the rights to Evan Ratliff's The Atavist article "A Thousand Pounds Of Dynamite," and today have announced they'll bring to life Don Pendelton's paperback action star Mack Bolan.

Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper continue to bro out in a big way. The two are producing the director's next film, "Arms & The Dudes," recently picked up the rights to Evan Ratliff's The Atavist article "A Thousand Pounds Of Dynamite," and today have announced they'll  bring to life Don Pendelton's paperback action star Mack Bolan. Phillips will direct and Cooper will star. Shane Salerno ("Savages," "Avatar 4") is writing the script about the elite commando dude, but production will only start once his work on James Cameron's series is done. And oh yeah, this will be a PG-13 effort all the way. [Deadline]

Keanu Reeves will star in the TV series "Rain," based on the work of writer Barry Eisler. Reeves takes the lead role of "John Rain, a half-Japanese, half-American contract assassin who struggles to find an identity beyond being a killer" in addition to producing the show. [Variety]

Wes Bentley has joined the EDM movie "We Are Your Friends" with Zac Efron. He'll play a "binge drinking" DJ who befriend's Efron's character, who in turn falls for his girlfriend (played by Emily Ratajowski). Yikes. [Deadline]

Sharlto Copley and Michelle Forbes have joined Eddie Izzard, Noah Taylor, Susan Heyward, Olesya Rulin, Max Fowler and Adam Godley in the Playstation Network (that's a thing now?) series "Powers." Based on the Image Comics series, it follows a formerly super-powered guy who now investigates super-power based crimes as a detective. [Variety]

Stellan Skaresgård is returning to the Marvel cinematic universe via "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" playing (once again) Dr. Erik Selvig. “First of all, I don’t know what I’m allowed to say,” he told Total Film. “But usually they call me in if they need something explained. There’s a lot of explanations to do when it comes to that universe.” [via Comic Book Movie]

Sigourney Weaver has joined Felicity Jones and Liam Neeson in Juan Antonio Bayona's "A Monster Calls." The story follows "a young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at the hands of his classmates, and his mother's terminal illness, by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster." The movie will hit theaters on October 14, 2016. [THR]
