Casting: David Fincher's 'Gone Girl' Has "Blurred Lines," 'Madding Crowd' Gets Bigger & More

It seems that "Blurred Lines" isn't going away anytime soon, and either getting in on the zeitgeist or (much more likely) sensing some potential, David Fincher is borrowing from the pop culture phenomenon. Seen topless throughout the unrated video of the Robin Thicke hit, model-actress Emily Ratajkowski has joined "Gone Girl." The adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel already has a fairly bonkers supporting cast that includes Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Fugit and Kim Dickens, alongside the two leads, Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.

As for Ratajkowski, she'll be playing Affleck's mistress in the flick. Production begins this fall. [The Wrap]

Also going in front of cameras is Thomas Vinterberg's "Far From The Madding Crowd," and it too is rounding out the cast. Michael Sheen joins the excellent ensemble of Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts,Tom Sturridge and Juno Temple in the adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel centering on Bathsheba Everdene (Mulligan) who is courted by three men: Gabriel Oak (Schoenaerts), a shepherd; Sergeant Troy (Sturridge), a handsome soldier; and William Boldwood (Sheen), a farm owner. Who would you choose? [Thompson On Hollywood]

For reasons that are beyond us, there is going to be a "Dumb & Dumber" sequel (we do hold nostalgia for a lot of dumb comedies, but this is not one of them). Cleverly titled, "Dumb And Dumber To" (sigh), "Walking Dead" Laurie Holden has joined the cast as the female lead. The more interesting story is seeing if the Farrelly Brothers, once the kings of '90s mainstream comedy, can regain their throne. Thrown off their perch by Judd Apatow in the aughts, their brand of silly, gross-out comedy has been out of step with audiences ever since "Shallow Hal" in 2001 (their last film to even get close to a $75 million gross domestically). [Deadline]

Jack Black will be taking the lead in the big screen adaptation of R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps.” The project will reunite him with "Gulliver's Travels" director Rob Letterman, so fair warning. As for the plot, it's meta-take on the material with Black playing an author who has to hide from his own creepy creations when they come to life. Yawn. [The Wrap]

Some dude named Luca Calvini just got a career boost, landing the villain role in Guy Ritchie's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Maybe you know him as Father Fontana from "The Bold & The Beautiful"? Anyway, his character will be a nuclear weapons dealer... scary! Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Hugh Grant and Jared Harris also star in the movie which is rolling in Europe. [Deadline]

Willem Dafoe is putting on his villain hat to give Keanu Reeves a hard time in John Wick. "The Matrix" actor will play a former hitman who seeks revenge after a thug steals his 1969 Ford Mustang and in the process kills the dog given to him by his late wife. Wick tracks the man to New York, where he winds up tangling with Dafoe's baddie, who also happens to be his friend, but still puts a bounty on this head. [Deadline]

Jason Patric is checking into the horror "Hotel 33," playing a detective who investigates the disappearance of a college age kid in a haunted hotel. Haven't we seen this movie five thousand times? Perhaps writer Kellie Madison, making her directorial debut, has a fresh take. [Variety]

Lastly, Noah Baumbach's "While We're Young" has added reality dude Ryan Serhant, of Bravo's "Million Dollar Listing" fame. His role in the film, where he'll play alongside Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Driver, Charles Grodin and Adam Horovitz, is being kept under wraps, but dude has acted before, most notably in "As The World Turns."  [The Wrap]
