Cate Blanchett Dons Scrubs In New Set Photos From Terrence Malick's 'Knight Of Cups'

The Playlist By Joe Cunningham | The Playlist June 11, 2012 at 10:40AM

Terrence Malick, a director who not long ago was famed for the vast lengths of time between his film releases, now has no less than three (or is it four?) projects at various stages of development. In fact, we’re constantly having to remind ourselves which film is which when a new piece of information arises. Well some new pictures have turned up from a Malick set and they feature Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale and Natalie Portman so by a process of elimination we’ve worked out that we must be talking about “Knight of Cups.” Oh, wait, they’re all starring in his untitled movie as well, aren’t they? See how this can get confusing!

Luckily the Daily Mail have directly referenced “Knight of Cups” in their ‘story’ so that removes the confusion. The cast still look like they’re having the time of their lives on set, frolicking around on the beach (as seen in images last week) and cruising around in a convertible. The Daily Mail’s hard-hitting journalism goes as far as describing Bale as “dishy” and Blanchett as a “sexy Australian,” but they’ve also managed to deftly spot that Blanchett is wearing doctor scrubs on set.

It doesn’t really tell us an awful lot about the plot – which we know next to nothing about – but it’s a small hint at least about the character Blanchett will be playing. Unless the film features a fancy dress party with a hospital theme, that is, in which case we’re still no wiser than we were before.
"Knight of Cups" and/or the untitled project are filming now, and will be released sometime between 2013 and 2087. [The Daily Mail]
