Lupita Nyong'o, Oscars
For anyone watching the Oscars at home last night, they may have noticed something a different about the speeches this year....no one really got played off. It looks like the producers took it easy on the winners in 2014, rarely breaking out the orchestra to hustle people off the stage, leading to some longer than usual acceptance speeches. And in case you were in the bathroom or doing a snack refill, we've got all the major ones below.

Bette Midler Oscars
Another year has passed, and with it, some of the cinema's most beloved artists passed away. And so it goes, the Oscars took a moment to remember them all (except Alain Resnais) with the annual In Memoriam segment.

Karen O Ezra Koenig
If the Oscars ditched the usual razzle dazzle opening number this number, they still brought the music with Best Song nominees getting their chance to shine with live performances. But it wasn't always the songs that got the most attention.

Ellen DeGeneres
After Seth MacFarlane stunk up the joint with his frat boy antics during last year's Oscar show, the Academy course corrected and asked Ellen DeGeneres back to the stage (she hosted in 2007) and it was good choice. And in case you missed it, we've got the full opening monologue for you to check out.

2014 Oscar Winners
...And that's it on another year. As always, the Oscars were both exciting, (mostly) sleep inducing, surprising and left us with lots to talk about. But it's late, we're tired and filled with nacho cheese, so we're going to be a bit brief for now.

2014 Oscar Selfie
What's up party people, here is your official Playlist Oscars 2014 live-blog, steered with reckless, and rosé-soaked abandon by me, Katie Walsh. I'm no awards pundit, or expert, but I am an enthusiast for fashions, celebrities, and live television mishaps, which is what these awards shows do best, as well as hand out shiny gold doorstoppers to the best and brightest of Hollywood. It's also a wonderful way to celebrate the end of what has seemed like an incredibly long and convoluted Oscar season (which really, is most of the year now), and tonight will no doubt be a great catharsis of all our collective anxieties, disagreements and heated opinions.

12 Years A Slave
The Independent's Spirit Awards are underway. "12 Years A Slave' leads the field with 7 nominations, while "Nebraska" is close behind with six, picking up nods in the same categories bar cinematography. "All Is Lost" has four nominations while "Inside Llewyn Davis" and "Frances Ha" made up the rest of the feature nominations, though missed out on other key nods (we're still shocked Greta Gerwig wasn't nomed for Best Actress). Winner as they happen below.

12 Memorable Oscar Acceptance Speeches
Oh my God. Thank you. Thank you. I can’t...God, I’m so nervous! This is, just, this is incredible. So unexpected—I didn’t even prepare anything! [surreptitiously unfolds piece of paper stored in cleavage]. Firstly, I have to thank the Academy, without whom I wouldn’t be here today, bringing you this feature about the most Memorable Oscar Speeches ever. And I have to thank the Editors, Rodrigo and Kevin, and my fellow features writer Oli, and all the nominees (whose company I am so humbled to share, though I don’t know how the hell Meryl Streep got into this category too).

2014 Oscar Predictions, Who Will/Should Win
On August 28th, "Gravity" premiered at the Venice Film Festival and pretty much marked the start, in full force, of the awards season. Between then and Oscar night on Sunday, six months will have passed. 27 weeks. 186 days. It's been a long, vicious, and sort of fascinating Oscar season, and one of the most unpredictable in years.
