The 2015 Best Picture Contenders, Premature pics
The star of "Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past" and the singer from 30 Seconds Of Mars are Oscar winners, "12 Years A Slave" beat "Gravity," Adele Tazeem became the most famous non-existent person on the planet, and no one's stopped talking about selfies for about 72 hours. The streets of LA are now full of discarded The Weinstein Company interns, who haven't seen daylight for months and are only capable of saying the words "Everything you are and everything you have is 'cos of that butler." Yep, the 2013/2014 awards season has come to an end.

Oscars
So the numbers are in, and last night’s Oscar telecast raked as the ceremony’s highest viewership stats for a decade, reaching an audience of 43 million. Of course its being hailed as a triumph for host Ellen DeGeneres, but we’re going to suggest that part of that was due to a more open, or rather less decided, race for Best Picture between “Gravity” and eventual winner “12 Years A Slave." Not to mention all the people who tuned in with their kids to hear the one and only Adele Dazim sing “Let it Go.”

12 Years A Slave
Last night, if you hadn't fall asleep by time it was announced, you may have noticed a slight chill when screenwriter John Ridley went up to accept his Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "12 Years A Slave." He curiously didn't even acknowledge director Steve McQueen, walking by him on his way up to the stage, and in his speech, he thanked everyone involved with the movie except the director. Is that beef we're smelling?

Best/Worst Moments of Oscar 2014 show
Well, after months of speculation, thousands upon thousands of column inches, millions of dollars in campaigning and plenty of furious arguments, the Oscar season is over. Last night's 86th Academy Awards saw "Gravity" pick up seven prizes, but being beaten to Best Picture by "12 Years A Slave" (only "Cabaret" won more awards without taking the big one), while "American Hustle" failed to win anything from its ten nominations (full list of winners here).

Lupita Nyong'o, Oscars
For anyone watching the Oscars at home last night, they may have noticed something a different about the speeches this year....no one really got played off. It looks like the producers took it easy on the winners in 2014, rarely breaking out the orchestra to hustle people off the stage, leading to some longer than usual acceptance speeches. And in case you were in the bathroom or doing a snack refill, we've got all the major ones below.

Bette Midler Oscars
Another year has passed, and with it, some of the cinema's most beloved artists passed away. And so it goes, the Oscars took a moment to remember them all (except Alain Resnais) with the annual In Memoriam segment.

If the Oscars ditched the usual razzle dazzle opening number this number, they still brought the music with Best Song nominees getting their chance to shine with live performances. But it wasn't always the songs that got the most attention.

Ellen DeGeneres
After Seth MacFarlane stunk up the joint with his frat boy antics during last year's Oscar show, the Academy course corrected and asked Ellen DeGeneres back to the stage (she hosted in 2007) and it was good choice. And in case you missed it, we've got the full opening monologue for you to check out.

2014 Oscar Winners
...And that's it on another year. As always, the Oscars were both exciting, (mostly) sleep inducing, surprising and left us with lots to talk about. But it's late, we're tired and filled with nacho cheese, so we're going to be a bit brief for now.
