Streep + Swank + Jones = Oscar? That's probably the line reps for Tommy Lee Jones' brewing sophomore directorial effort "The Homesman" will be spinning when they shop the movie at the upcoming American Film Market, and yes, Meryl Streep and Hilary Swank are part of the package for the movie they are hoping will lure investors, reports The Wrap.

"I hate how difficulties in the process of putting together big-budget movies has been turned into bloodsport reporting, particularly when it is sort of accurate but exaggerated," Deadline wrote today with a pretty amazing lack of self-awareness. And while the actual truth of what is going on behind closed doors on "47 Ronin" likely won't be known except by those directly involved, it's hard to deny that the movie is going through some serious pains.

An American thriller film by Roland Emmerich, the guy who directed super-sized blockbusters like "Independence Day, " "Godzilla" and "2012" and starring Channing Tatum, "White House Down" might just be the movie of summer 2013 if you're into loud spectacle. Tatum, who has arguably had the best 2012 of any male contemporary thanks to three over-$100 million dollar grossers ("The Vow," "21 Jump Street" and "Magic Mike") stars as a United States Secret Service agent who must rescue the President of the United States (Jamie Foxx) from a paramilitary group that has taken over the White House. Let's guess, he's new and unexperienced (first day on the job?), but somehow he "Die Hard"s it and against all odds and saves the day.

Picking up the Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival in January and competing for the Grand Jury Prize, her latest is headed to theaters, and with that honor bestowed upon it combined with a cast that includes the rising David Oyelowo, this may be one you'll want to track down.

More confirmations and little updates continue to roll in for Terry Gilliam's "The Zero Theorem" as shooting is set to get underway in just a few weeks. Yesterday, Brit actor David Thewlis was confirmed as part of the cast, joining Christoph Waltz and Melanie Thierry in the pic. And now another name (one mentioned by Thierry earlier this month) has also been locked down, though for a much smaller role than we had imagined.

With a 130-day shoot wrapping at the end of July that saw numerous cast changes, and a film that will find Quentin Tarantino working for the first time without his longtime editor Sally Menke who sadly passed in 2010, it's not a stretch to say that making the Christmas Day release date for "Django Unchained" is going to be tight. But, could the movie be ready in time for a premiere at the Rome Film Festival at the beginning of November? According to some rumors coming out in the run-up to the line-up announcement, it seems the door is at least open.
