While the ingredients might seem the same -- Middle Earth, hobbits, dwarves, adventure, Gandalf, etc. -- Peter Jackson's upcoming "The Hobbit" trilogy will likely offer up some key differences from his "The Lord Of The Rings" series of movies. And when it comes to the soundtrack, it looks like Jackson will be switching up the game too.

A new trailer for the "Quentin Tarantino XX" Blu-ray box set has debuted, and while it might look great on the outside, promising 5 hours of bonus features and more, what becomes clear is that this package is a bit of a missed opportunity with some odd choices of what to include.

So, Mindy Kaling is having a bit of moment. The comic actress got her first big break on "The Office" where she started as a staff writer, took on the role of Kelly Kapoor, and eventually worked her way up to co-executive producer. She's published a memoir "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)," and this fall she's got a new show on Fox, "The Mindy Kaling Project" which just got picked up with a full season order. And now her talents are attracting Oscar nominees.

It's been hard to know what to expect from Paul Schrader's "The Canyons," a collaboration with writer Bret Easton Ellis that features the unlikely leads Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen. And certainly, this first teaser trailer (well, the first one to feature actual footage) certainly isn't what we would have predicted from the movie.

Two films enter, one film leaves! Dueling "Snow White" pictures made way for dueling Alfred Hitchock pictures in 2012 (oh, how Hollywood loves to battle with itself). And the verdict may already be in. The version focusing on the master of suspense's releationship with Tippi Hedren staring Toby Jones and Sienna Miller, "The Girl" screened this weekend at the Hamptons International Film Festival and our reviewer wasn't overly impressed (however some other reviews have been a bit more generous). That leaves "Hitchcock," which centers on the making of the groundbreaking psychological horror film, "Psycho." The synopsis so far is rather vague, but provides enough to keep us interested:

While David O. Russell's upcoming movie with Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams is in the early lead for cast of the year for 2013, "Prisoners" ain't looking too shabby either. With Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo already on board, the long brewing movie has added another very talented name to the ensemble.

There's a reason we put Kelly Marcel on our On The Rise feature for screenwriters this spring. The scribe was due to break out in a big way, and indeed she has, nabbing one of the most high-profile book adaptations kicking around Hollywood.

We may not know much about "Beautiful Creatures" mostly because we're probably too old for the Young Adult demo the book series and movie are aiming for, but from what we've seen so far in both pictures and the first trailer, Emmy Rossum is looking to be one to watch. And another new image from the movie backs up that notion (and it seems the Warner Bros. marketing department agrees).

The latest issue of Empire is simply overflowing with great material if you're a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger. There's a major interview, "Working With Arnie"; a feature about his weapons of choice and one-liners; "Exploring Predator" an awesome in-depth play-by-play about his seminal alien-in-the-jungle picture; "Surviving Commando" a movie that the magazine calls his most off-the-chain; and "Arnie Killed Me," a column tracking down all the bit-actors who were offed by Arnie in his various films. If you are at all a Schwarzenegger fan, the issue is a must.
