Lynne Ramsay + "Moby Dick" + scifi? It seems we're not the only ones who think this is an amazing idea, and, thankfully, someone is willing to put up some money to make it happen.

When Clive Barker's "Nightbreed" was released theatrically in 1990, promoted by a poster that made the movie look like a monstrous neon-lit sequel to "Lost Boys" and plagued by a series of frustrating production problems, it was critically and commercially ignored. Based on the novella "Cabal" (also by Barker), the studio and production company toned down some of the harsher elements of the film, confused as to why a ragtag band of mutants were the heroes, where humans (exemplified by a chilly performance by David Cronenberg) were the villains. Extensive reshoots and edits were made to the film, compromising the original creative intent, and what remains is an entreatingly off-centered film that plays like a prototype for the "X-Men" movies. The original footage that was deleted from the film was thought to be lost, but some plucky fans have found it and the extended edition (labeled "The Cabal Cut") will be touring worldwide before a commercial Blu-ray release.

"The studio would not confirm this, but it seemed intriguing and dishy enough to discuss," says Deadline who we guess are feeling a bit saucy this afternoon, and hell we'll play along with that. Benedict Cumberbatch as the one of the most infamous men and political figures on the planet right now? Yeah, we'd like to see that.

While George Clooney has more than few options for his next directorial outing, it seems "The Monuments Men" is picking up steam. First announced at the beginning of the year, the movie sounds like -- as one writer of the site said: "The Train" meets "Inglourious Basterds" but as directed by Clooney and therefore potentially awesome. Now toss in a potential cast that includes Jean Dujardin, Cate Blanchett and Paul Giamatti? Yeah, we'd be all over that.

They're dropping like flies: add another excised name to the impressive cast left out of this winter's "Django Unchained." Following Kevin Costner, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony LaPaglia out the door, the runaway Quentin Tarantino production also has shed frequent QT collaborator The RZA.

Cinema may not be dead, but when the critically reviled, barely more than 80 minute, CGI/live action mashup "Yogi Bear" arrived in theaters at the end of 2010 and earned more than $200 million, well, you could practially hear David Denby curled in the corner sobbing. Of course, a sequel was announced last year and now the wheels are turning, with a truly....odd choice being selected to rewrite and direct the thing.

In a moment of weakness, Andy Brewster (Seth Rogen) asks his widowed mom (Barbra Streisand) to join him on a work-related cross-country road trek in "The Guilt Trip." That's all the premise is and it sounds rather paper-thin, but the first clip of the film released earlier this week was surprisingly charming.
