While Sacha Baron Cohen has gone into character for films like "Borat" and "Bruno" to deliver laughs along with a sharp look at America's social and cultural hang-ups and curiosities, in the provocative documentary "The Ambassador," filmmaker Mads Brügger takes things one step further.

The last film that we saw her in was “The Avengers,” in all likelihood the next film that we’ll see her in is “Iron Man 3,” and in the week after Comic-Con most of the talk has been about whether she’ll ever don the metal suit in any future Marvel movies. As a result, it has been easy to forget that Gwyneth Paltrow is an established actress outside of the Marvel universe, but may be set to change (at least for a while) because we’ve got an announcement about her next non-Marvel project.

It was a roll of the dice to be sure, but it mostly turned out well for Lionsgate, who kicked off Comic-Con last week by screening "Dredd" for enthusiastic geeks. And while we thought the film was mostly empty spectacle, many other folks disagreed, with much of the initial wariness of the film lifting as a result of the screening (though perhaps replaced after that ridiculous slow motion clip landed online).

So how confident were Sony that "21 Jump Street" had the potential to be a hit? A month before the movie came to theaters, Jonah Hill revealed a sequel was already in the works, and a few weeks later it was reported that he was teaming up with Michael Bacall to pen the followup. And while it hasn't been formally announced that Phil Lord and Chris Miller will return to direct, it's likely we'll know more soon if everything goes according to plan.

With $530 million worldwide in the bank for "The Amazing Spider-Man" and that figure set to grow even higher (even if "The Dark Knight Rises" is looming in the near distance), Sony can feel confident that their plans for a proposed trilogy of the rebooted franchise are off to a strong start. With a 2014 release date already slated for the sequel, the wheels are going to have to start turning soon on that one, but it seems the studio will need to find a new director.

With production on the film beginning way, way back in 2010, we've been starting to get a little worried about "The Orphanage" director Juan Antonio Bayona's "The Impossible." But with a lengthy post-production required for the special effects work, we got our first taste of the film in December with a promising teaser followed up this spring with a full trailer -- could the movie now be Oscar bound?

Despite boasting a strong ensemble cast including Robert Duvall, John Hurt, Frances O'Connor, Ray Stevenson, Kevin Bacon (with an amazing hairpiece) and Robert Patrick, with writer/director Billy Bob Thornton also featuring, and slotting a premiere at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, it seems distributors stateside haven't been quick to bite on the drama "Jayne Mansfield's Car." But over in Australia, the movie will be landing on DVD and Blu-ray in early 2013 and the first trailer to get the word out has arrived.

Well, we suppose it's not as out there as Mickey Rourke playing Ivan Vanko, or a talking raccoon and superhero tree in "Guardians Of The Galaxy," but it is still an idea that is enough to give one pause. Marvel has been thinking about strapping Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts into Tony Stark's Iron Man suit.
