As we patiently await David Fincher's next feature to get the pieces put in place, he's been doing just fine for the moment over in TV land. "House Of Cards," which he executive produced and directed the first two episodes for, kicked off the year by not only revolutionizing how new shows are brought to market, but by also being just a top tier political drama. Critics and audiences were both taken by it, and a second season is on the way (though Fincher may not be directing), and it seems there's another British TV show he wants to bring to American audiences.

You would think that legends like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton deserve better treatment that kind of cheap, cranked out TV biopics, but we guess not. They aren't superheroes.... Last fall, we saw Lindsay Lohan and That Other Guy do their thing in the roundly derided Lifetime effort "Liz & Dick." Now the Brits are having a go at it with "Burton & Taylor" but at least they're bringing some classier people along for the ride.

After Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's groundbreaking "The Office," followed by the equally well received "Extras," it seemed that audiences began to cool on that particular brand of comedy. Rooted in vain, unlikeable, ambitious and curiously sympathetic characters, it's not clear where public opinion went, but "Life's Too Short" certainly deserved a better reception than it got.

Fleming Dominic Cooper
While James Bond fans around the world patiently wait for the followup to "Skyfall," and for Sam Mendes to make up his mind already, a brief reprieve will arrive with "Fleming," a new Brit TV mini-series biopic on the famed creator of the international lothario and spy. And a new teaser trailer is here to give you a little sampling.

Arrested Development, Netflix
The fourth season of “Arrested Development” brought a number of alterations to the much-anticipated series: the fractured narrative, its single-character episodes, the ramped-up narration by Ron Howard. Even the show's music felt different -- its upbeat swing score higher in the mix and more noticeable in its presence. However, the mid-season pop gem, “Getaway” was a hilarious season highlight, and now the song, alongside the Bluth family's past musical output, is gearing up for release.

Whatever David Bowie does, it's bound to be cooler than what everyone else is doing, and that's certainly true in 2013. The music legend dropped a new album, and along with it two celeb-filled, eye-popping videos that pretty much defied whatever else the industry was doing. So, would Bowie stoop to doing a weekly TV show?

Unlike the movies, which do operate on a January-December basis when it comes to awards consideration, the TV season is a slightly different proposition. With ratings dipping in the summer, new shows tend to be unveiled in September or early fall, and are usually wrapping up by May. The rise of cable networks like FX and HBO has staggered this more, but the Emmys taking place in September tends to mean that the season has a more definitive end at this time of year.

A Look Back At Season 6 Of 'Mad Men' & What May Lie Ahead In The Final Season

The sixth season of AMC's "Mad Men" came to a close Sunday night, wrapping up what has been arguably its most divisive season yet. As usual the highlights were in no short supply -- the mini-movie meditation "The Doorway," the amphetamine-fueled "The Crash," Don and Betty's temporary reunion in "The Better Half" and the final moments of "In Care Of" just to name a few -- but despite great episodes for whatever reason this season never seemed to coalesce as well as in previous years. Throughout much of the season, it was unclear if the narrative deja vu was a flaw in the writing or sort of the point of the story being told. And coming off a phenomenal season five, you couldn't help but feel that maybe season six just couldn't reach the highs of last year's paradigm-busting episodes. Ironically, the turning point for many this season came midway through when Don and Ted make a pact to merge Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and Cutler, Gleason and Chaough.
