If last week's premiere was the small pebble, rolling down the mountain of the second season of "The Newsroom," you can start seeing the eventual massive snowball forming with the second episode. This new approach from Aaron Sorkin, with one large news story anchoring the narrative, is an interesting touch, but it doesn't get in the way of his usual combination of lefty liberal political posturing, speech-ifying, genuine drama and truly shameful emotional manipulation. And this week's "The Genoa Tip" has it in spades with a finale that nearly tips over into offensive bad taste.

NBC has been a punching bag lately, and not without good reason. The one-time kings of network ratings have tumbled from their dominance of Must See TV Thursday to pretty much For The Love Of God Watch Us On Any Night Please TV. And while NBC's past found them bringing massive, game-changing comedies like "Seinfeld," "Cheers," and "Friends" to air, is cutting-edge drama going to define them moving forward? This year alone they defied all expectations and impressed both critics and audiences with "Hannibal," a richer than expected and very fresh take on the character. And next year, will "Believe" join its ranks?

If there is one thing "Game Of Thrones" fans have learned over three seasons: no one is safe. It would be best advised if you're newly checking out the HBO smash show that you don't get too attached to any particular character, because they could be dead before you know it. And we're not even going to get into The Red Wedding.... In short, the time could run out on any character at any moment, but now it's time to take a pause and remember those that have fallen before the next season of "Game Of Thrones."

If you had said a few years ago that one of the biggest ratings behemoths on cable would be a series about zombies based on a comic book, people would have said you were crazy. But defying the odds, creative shakeups and some dips in quality, "The Walking Dead" has lurched into being one of the biggest things on TV. It's certainly a jewel in the AMC crown and the fourth season is looming, and as a treat to those in San Diego -- or for those of us sitting comfortably at home -- the network has dropped a sprawling four-minute trailer for the new season.

Well, while die hard "The Simpsons" fans have already been told they're going to have to wait at least 10-15 years for another big screen outing, the show continues to soldier on, recently wrapping up its 24th season. But it looks like the show is still trying to surprise, and in a move we thought would never happen, it's going to crossover with another Fox animated hit, that owes its success to the Springfield family.

It’s always fascinating to see a famous performer in their more formative years. For Ricky Gervais, his formative years were rather brief, as he had his mainstream television debut in 1999. That’s two years before “The Office” first aired on the BBC, when his career subsequently exploded. Nevertheless, it’s very interesting to see where the comedian got his start. Gervais got his first big break in a one-off for Channel 4’s “Comedy Lab,” which is a program that showcases comedy pilots. Gervais’ show, co-written with Stephen Merchant, was called “Golden Years” and, thankfully for us, the entire episode is available online.

It looks like we really need to finally catch up with this show. Only two seasons old, "American Horror Story" is becoming a titan. Last year, the show earned 17 Emmy nominations (going on to win 2) and this year, it has matched that figure once again.

Back in January, it was reported that indie directing duo, Jay and Mark Duplass (“Jeff, Who Lives At Home”) were working on a half-hour comedy for HBO entitled “Togetherness.” The series details the trials and tribulations of two couples forced to live under the same roof; its humor deriving from the real-life problems within a relationship. News on the series cooled down after that with snippets of casting announcements being the norm. Back in March it was confirmed that Amanda Peet would be playing a lead role next to confirmed stars Melanie Lynskey, and Duplass regular Steve Zissis.

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor are screen icons of apparently imperishable importance and fascination, and so the screen keeps coming back to them, making Elizabeth Taylor the only person in history (so far, but we imagine it will stay this way) to be portrayed by both Lindsay Lohan and Helena Bonham-Carter. Lohan's “Liz & Dick” has thankfully been and gone, but behold, a clip from the BBC's upcoming “Burton & Taylor,” following on from the recent trailer.
