Well, when he's not berating Israeli journalists and accusing them of draft dodging, Peter Berg seems to be a fan of their television programs as the "Friday Night Lights" creative is headed back to the small screen for the curiously titled "M.I.C.E."

Season 2 of the Terence Winter (“The Sopranos”) created, Martin Scorsese-exec-produced "Boardwalk Empire" ended in a spectacularly bloody and vengeful fashion that left many viewers in mourning (spoilers will follow for those who have not seen the show).

Just when you thought you couldn’t be any more excited for the return of “Arrested Development,” Mitch Hurwitz goes ahead and casts Isla Fisher and Terry Crews. There’s no news on who they’ll be playing, whose episodes they will be in, or even how many episodes they’ll be in, but we’re excited by their involvment nonetheless. They’re both people we really like who know how to be funny, and if the show’s track-record is anything to go by, we’re sure they’ll be given brilliantly bizarre guest roles.

When we left off with "Parade's End" (two weeks ago -- TIFF commitments mean that we had to skip last week's recap, which will be covered below), war had arrived, with Christopher Tietjens (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the trenches, and his wife Sylvia (Rebecca Hall) seemingly finding religion. Part three of the show stayed mostly away from the front, picking up with Christopher waking in a military hospital, concussed by a shell, and seemingly unable to remember even his name.

Cable TV enthusiasts...the drought is over. While this summer brought "Louie," "The Newsroom" and "Breaking Bad" to the small screen to tide folks over, with the fall rolling in, those DVRs are going to be exercised harder as a batch of programs return. With "Boardwalk Empire," "Dexter," "Treme" and more to start soon, it won't stop there as next month, AMC's "The Walking Dead" will be hoping to deliver its best season yet.

With apologies, it's been a little while since we checked in in "Louie" -- we were partly interrupted by festival-related travels and because the show took last week off, presumably because it would have clashed with Barack Obama's speech at the DNC. Or the VMAs. Happily, over the past weeks, Louis C.K.'s been unfurling his most expansive story yet, a three-part tale that last night's episode marked the middle act of, in what seems to be building into something resembling the first "Louie" feature-length movie.

Last month, the plot for Larry David's upcoming improvised comedy was revealed, ending what was an unusual amount of secrecy for the creator of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." At the time, the project still lacked a name and only had confirmed the casting of Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton and David himself. With HBO stepping in over the summer to release the film, the project is taking shape for a fall shoot and is putting together its cast, roughly about half of Hollywood.

While we have our hopes high and fingers crossed that the upcoming fourth season of "Arrested Development" can match the amazing genius of the first three seasons before it was canceled by Fox, it seems Mitch Hurwitz and co. are making sure they have all the comedic ingredients at their disposal. Of course, all the main ensemble are back, with John Slattery also lending his skills and Liza Minnelli returning as well. And now another player has confirmed she'll be appearing/planting as well.

It has been two years since Derek Cianfrance emerged with his raw and intimate "Blue Valentine," and coming into TIFF with his latest effort, the filmmaker presented a movie that was bigger in every way possible. Running well over two hours with cast including Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Dane DeHaan, Ben Mendelsohn and more, "The Place Beyond the Pines" tells a tale that spans generations and makes great use of its New York State setting. To say that we loved it would be an understatement (read our review here), but it seems the director isn't done with long form storytelling just yet.

The TV season is about to get underway, with a handful of shows already starting airing, and, for the most part, there's not an awful lot to get excited about. A few shows that have our interest (mostly hitting cable in the New Year), and some returning favorites, obviously, but a thin slate of new series by most accounts. But that doesn't mean there isn't anything coming down the pipe, as a few announcements in the last few days have made clear.
