Last year, before the film even opened in North America, Sam Mendes and John Logan, the director and writer of “Skyfall,” began developing a vampire-hunting TV series set in the 1800s. The pair pitched the series to various cable networks, and the show has now found a home at Showtime.

You had us at Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. But toss "Sin Nombre" and "Jane Eyre" helmer Cary Fukunaga in the mix, and a crime series for them to play with? Just tell us when, and we'll be there. Brewing for the past year and picked up by HBO almost a year ago, it looks like "True Detective" is heading toward cameras.

This weekend, there are a couple of events of notice taking place on the small screen, both on Sunday night. The biggest of course is the Golden Globes (our predicted winners here), which will find Tina Fey and Amy Poehler overseeing the festivities. And while Lena Dunham will be in attendance, hoping that "Girls" takes home an award for either Best Television Series - Comedy or Best Actress, over on HBO the second season of the show will be kicking off. Surely, the first thing that came to people’s minds when they heard Disney bought out Lucasfilm was the possibility of more "Star Wars" films. That one was a given. Well, it turns out that Disney has much more in mind than just another "Star Wars" trilogy, how about a live action TV series as well?

We’ve recently had (sadly false) rumors of a “Twin Peaks” return, and Netflix’s “Hemlock Grove” (trailer here) looks like it has a very "Twin Peaks"-y vibe to accompany those genre elements too, and now Fox has a show that's said to be “evocative of 'Twin Peaks'” from the twistmeister general himself, M. Night Shyamalan. “Wayward Pines” (even the name screams “Twin Peaks”) will apparently be a 10-12 part event series that the network anticipates getting on the air within the next 12-24 months.

Anyone who read Brian McCreevy's monstrously clever horror novel "Hemlock Grove" knows what viewers are in for when the Eli Roth-produced Netflix series is unleashed in April. For everyone else, you're going to get a pretty good idea, thanks to a brand new trailer for the series that just debuted online. Television is having something of a horror moment, between "The Walking Dead," "True Blood" and "American Horror Story," and it looks like those viewers who still have a thirst for blood will have something to look forward to.
