The new “Violet & Daisy” poster has landed and it is quite a doozy, with a strikingly bold concatenation of lollipops and guns setting an eye-popping tone for the latest from “Precious” writer Geoffrey Fletcher.

In his directorial debut, Fletcher tackles “a candy-colored crime story about two teen girl killers and their latest target.” As we described in our review, Fletcher has deftly cast two talented doll-faced actresses (Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan) as his teenage assassins, with James Gandolfini as the surprising target alongside solid support from Danny Trejo and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The poster looks like it would make for a “Lolita”-aesthetic shoot ‘em up, but Ronan revealed that although the premise sounds very action-packed, “the film is a black comedy and not an action film at all.” Fletcher said he considers it a coming-of-age story and “a teen assassin fable.” Either way this latest poster has certainly got our attention.

“Violet & Daisy” arrives in theaters this June.

Looks like a scrapped poster design for SPRING BREAKERS.

I saw it at two festivals. I absolutely loved it.

This was hands down the worst film I saw at TIFF last year. Aside from it not knowing what it wanted to be by jarringly shifting tone throughout, it was deadly boring with inane dialogue. With more clarity of vision and sharper dialogue, this could have been closer to "Scott Pilgrim" but it falls way short. A huge disappointment from the writer of the astonishing "Precious".

Hey, my response was strictly related to my experience viewing the film, not any personal vendetta. In fact, I really went in with high hopes. It has a terrific cast and "Precious" moved me to tears. I just found it to be wildly uneven and deadly dull.

Yeah! I agree with CINEMA JIM - OTT put downs are usually personal, eg. some of the reviews for The Host movie were nothing more than diatribes against Stephenie Meyer.

It's usually something personal when people write negative and emotional comments like these, especially so early after a posting.

This was my favorite film from Toronto that year. I hope it comes to my city.
