10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesA new U.K. one-sheet has arrived for the film on the "The Avenger" 's Facebook page, and if nothing else, it's a break from those banners that have been endlessly recycled for months now. Instead, it displays the various heroes -- Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, given center-stage, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evans' Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk -- squaring up for battle in a ruined cityscape. Well, that's the impression the poster wants to give. In fact, the dodgy photoshop makes it look like a film where none of the characters are ever on screen together.
And for some reason, Chris Evans appears to be almost the same size as the Hulk, towering over the others. Is this a hint of a secret plot development, with some kind of Ant-Man-style shrinking potion? Or just more evidence that you shouldn't let the intern do the poster? We suspect the latter.
The Facebook page also reveals that the film has been retitled in the U.K. at the last minute to "Marvel Avengers Assemble," something we suspect is to avoid confusion/copyright with the 1960s TV series "The Avengers," horribly brought to the screen fourteen years ago with Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery. To make up for the title change, the film has been moved up a day, and will now open on April 26th, a full eight days before the U.S gets it (in case you're wondering, it's because of the Euro 2012 football tournament, with most big movies shifted away from June to prevent the box office plunging). America, meanwhile, will get the film on May 4th. Feast your peepers on the full poster below, and come back tomorrow for a look at that trailer.

This poster would be far far FAR more effective if the Avengers were all looking at the same thing. Would really help hide the "Throw it Together in Photoshop" element

They got Captain America confused with Giant-Man!

Yeah but AAA, he's clearly positioned behind Nick Fury. It's not about his height on the poster, but his body size compared to the characters in front of him. You can physically measure his size compared to Fury or Black Widow (the next closest to him in the fore ground) and he's clearly way too big. I personally don't care, nor am I complaining, but as it has been pointed out now, he does look oddly proportione compared to everyone else.

um, seems pretty clear he's standing on a car or something in the rubble. You can clearly see him feet, so it is 100% clear he is no bigger than anyone else he's standing on something. You guys look for any excuse to hate on this movie, at least attempt to make your snarkiness funny
