10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesThe Wrap reports that Chris Hemsworth is now attached to star in the writer/director's brewing directorial effort "Candy Store." The project has had Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz all circling or being offered roles with Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Bradley Cooper all on the wishlist as well, if their first choices pass on the gig. We have to say, the material sounds strong as well, with the story following a deep cover agent who loses everything and starts over as a beat cop in Brooklyn. He discovers the organized operation he was trying to bring down is alive and kicking right under his nose.
No word on when this might lens, but it would presumably have to either be squeezed in between "Thor 2" and "Robopocalypse," or simply wait for the actor to be done with latter. So this could still be a long way off. Morever, Hemsworth has more offers on the table, including a role in a brewing Steve McQueen biopic titled "Triumph" (his brother also has an offer for the part). But between this and Ron Howard's forthcoming "Rush," it looks Hemsworth is ready to establish himself as more than just a guy who can wield a mighty hammer.
