As every indie band who is reuniting for a tour right now will tell you: nostalgia sells. And as executives at Disney who are bringing 3D upgrades of their catalog titles to theaters will tell you: nostalgia sells. And now, one of the biggest franchises that geeks still love to talk about is getting a bit of new life.
Christopher Lloyd is set to reprise is role as Emmett "Doc" Brown in an upcoming "Back To The Future"-themed episode of the Fox sitcom "Raising Hope." We don't watch this show, so we'll just let EW explain where Lloyd fits into the wacky premise: "Lloyd plays a loan collector named Dennis Powers who calls on the Chances for some old debt after Jimmy (Lucas Neff) and Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) consider buying a new car on credit." And this is where Lloyd is expected to roll up in a DeLorean.
As far as movie/television tie-ins go, this seems pretty hamfisted, though we will say choosing November 5th to announce it is pretty smart. No word yet on when it will air, but sweeps seems like a good bet for this kind of thing. Until then, take a walk down memory lane below.
