Comic-Con: Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms He's Teaming With Ivan Reitman For 'Twins' Sequel & More

As those of you with an internet connection and any interest in film, television, video games, or any geek property will know, Comic-Con is in full swing over in San Diego. While there’s been much talk of the lack of studio presence at this year’s Con, there are certainly some big announcements being made – for better or worse.

First off, in case you thought that perhaps former California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger had forgotten about all that talk of a “Twins” sequel, reteaming him with co-star Danny Devito – and adding Eddie Murphy to the fray in what would inevitably be called “Triplets” – well, he hasn't. While that may have all sounded like insane ramblings months ago, Schwarzenegger confirmed during Lionsgate’s Comic-Con panel for the upcoming “The Expendables 2” that he would certainly be reteaming with Devito and the film’s original director Ivan Reitman soon enough – they’re just currently in development, and seeking a writer. Schwarzengger does have a lengthy schedule of films he seems far more invested in – a recently announced David Ayer-helmed thriller entitled “Ten” is in the mix – so hopefully we’re safe for now.

Comic-Con certainly isn’t just for male fanboys  – there’s a good chance you could probably hear the fangirls in Hall H screaming from the other side of the country as Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner took the stage for what would be their final panel for the “Twilight” saga. Pimping out November’s “Breaking Dawn: Part 2,” director Bill Condon videoed into the panel to introduce the first seven minutes of the film, which reportedly ignited a frenzy amongst fans, helping everyone to forget the genuinely saddening news that a 53-year-old Twihard who was attempting to hold her spot in line to gain entry into the highly-coveted panel fell into oncoming traffic and passed away earlier in the week. If you’re going to have fun supporting all your favorite properties, please remember to be safe while doing so! *End Playlist PSA*

On that note, “Twilight” mastermind and author Stephenie Meyer was also in attendance, and tried to put her legion of fans on the 12-step program to weaning themselves off the gargantuan film series, and onto her next book-turned-film property “The Host” (How convenient!). The “Twilight” panel also doubled as a chance for Open Road to showcase some scenes from the upcoming Andrew Niccol-directed sci-fi love story that hits Easter Weekend 2013, and will star an admittedly impressive cast consisting of Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, Frances Fisher, Scott Lawrence, Max Irons and Jake Abel. Apparently, Meyer has already drafted two more books to extend the story of “The Host," so we have a feeling this won’t be her last trip to the Con.
