Gary Oldman in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."
Focus Features Gary Oldman in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."

You've likely been hearing a lot about Tomas Alfredson's crackling "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," but you may be wondering why it hasn't hit your local multiplex yet. Well, the film has been in limited release so far, but starting on January 6th (today!), it hits theaters nationwide, and we've got a great prize pack as well as some nice runner up prizes, to reward your patience.

Led by a career-best performance by Gary Oldman, "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy" is based on John Le Carré's classic novel, and centers on career spy George Smiley as he endeavors to find the mole that is leaking secrets out of the Circus, the highest level of the British intelligence service. Helping to tell the tale is a phenomenal cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, John Hurt, Mark Strong, Toby Jones, Tom Hardy and much, much more. The film has ranked on many best-of-the-year lists and with very good reason. And if you've been looking forward to the movie (or have seen it already, and are a big fan) we've got a great prize for one lucky reader.

Courtesy of Focus Features, the grand prize pack includes: $50 gift certifcate for Fandago, T-shirt, voice recorder pen, Post-It note cube, movie tie-in book, soundtrack and a luxury chess set. Not bad right? 3 runners up will receive a copy of the soundtrack.

How to win? Email us your name and address along with the name of the first book by John Le Carré that featured George Smiley. Good luck! Update: Contest is closed, winners will be contacted via email.

Contest open to U.S. residents only.

Breaking my heart by not even making this one of those "e-mail us & we'll pick at random" type contests. Never stood a chance.

Anyway, his first novel was "Call for the Dead" published in 1961.
