10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesVariety reports that he will take the helm of "The Flamingo Thief," a comedy that has Will Ferrell attached to star. And no, it's not quite that new. The project was first announced back in February, and is based on the book by Susan Trott about a man who starts stealing pink flamingos after his wife leaves him. Michael LeSieur ("You Me & Dupree," "The Maiden Heist") penned the screenplay that landed on the Black List last year. Even though it sounds almost too close to Ferrell's last dramedy outing "Everything Must Go" (swap out garage sale for flamingo), Gillespie has been down this oddball path before with "Lars & The Real Girl" so he's a good fit.
But when this will film is a good question. The football comedy "Three Mississippi" shoots this fall, after which Ferrell will put on the mustache to play Ron Burgundy in "Anchorman 2." So maybe somteime in mid-2013? The folks over at Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films who are prouducing the movie will sort that out all out, but either way, it seems like its a long way out at this point.
