With so much Cannes speculation kicking around here's one thing we know for sure: Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" will be opening the festival. And frankly, that's pretty damn exciting. So far, the film has looked like a solid return to live-action filmmaking for the director who detoured with the stop-motion animated "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and this latest peek at the movie shows his whimsy hasn't abated one bit.

With so much Cannes speculation kicking around here's one thing we know for sure: Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" will be opening the festival. And frankly, that's pretty damn exciting. So far, the film has looked like a solid return to live-action filmmaking for the director who detoured with the stop-motion animated "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and this latest peek at the movie shows his whimsy hasn't abated one bit.

As you well know, "Moonrise Kingdom" marks Anderson's first foray into a period movie, with the story taking place in 1960s New England and focusing on two kids -- Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward -- who fall in love and run away together, turning the adults in their lives upside down. Yahoo has a brand new look at the movie, one that gives us an overview of most of the cast of players (though no Tilda Swinton). We get the parents played by Bill Murray and Frances McDormand, the troupe leader portrayed by Edward Norton along with his small bunch of Scouts, the narrator of the story is revealed to be Bob Balaban (awesome), and looking official on the far right as a cop is Bruce Willis.

It's yet another piece to get us excited for the movie. "Moonrise Kingdom" opens on May 25th.
