Deadline reveals that Boyle will helm "Trance," a project that is definitely new and as such, details are a bit scarce. There's no word yet on who penned it, but the film is described as "an art heist gone wrong" with tonal similarities to early Boyle films "Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting," and we're likely to hear more about this one soon.
Boyle is already talking to talent on both sides of the ocean for roles in the film for a September shoot. And then we'll wait as he will transition over to his Olympic duties before returning to the film a year later around August 2012 to edit and prep it for a 2013 release. So it's a long wait, but it's better that he get it in the can before the Olympics then after, otherwise the gap between films would be even longer.
More details are sure to come, but Boyle doing a heist-themed flick? Sign us up.
