Update: Co-creator Mark Frost calls all this "Another strange baseless rumor." As you were...

While those rumors a year ago of a possible third season of David Lynch's cult classic TV series "Twin Peaks" were debunked as quickly as they came forward, it appears that the director/creator isn't done with Laura Palmer just yet. It looks like we'll all have a reason return to Twin Peaks soon.

The guys at Bleeding Cool recently received a casting notice looking for a very well built woman to play waitress for a promo that Lynch will be shooting for "Twin Peaks" tomorrow. So what's it all for? According to the site, they surmise the spot is for a forthcoming home video release of "Twin Peaks" that will not only include to the TV show, but the prequel film "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me," 45 minutes worth of deleted scenes and more.  (Seemingly, this is much more than in the "Twin Peaks - The Definitive Gold Box Edition" released a few years ago, which we guess is no longer definitive.)

Now, none of this is confirmed, so don't get too excited just yet, but if all goes according to plan, the tentative street date is March 25, 2014 (which, as BC notes, is 25 years after Dale Cooper met Laura Palmer in the Black Lodge)...

A Blu-ray box was actually announced for several European markets (including the UK and France) and was available for pre-order from various sites. Most sites have since pulled the pre-order--Amazon UK now has it as "currently unavailable"--but this Dutch/Belgian site still has it coming out on March 26th. If the release actually has been put off, hopefully they'll do something about the god-awful cover art that Fox/Paramount showed in a Scandinavian promo.

And the (hopefully temporary) cover art:

Looks like my link didn't make it through. Here's that Dutch/Belgian site:

Wow, I drove by Twin Peaks (the restaurant I live by in North Bend, WA that the series gets its name from) and was just thinking that they really need to bring this show back. I come home and hop on the internet to find my thoughts coming true! I'm amazed and hope it lives up to the hype that I'm sure it will soon to be receiving!

    Debunked by Mark Frost yesterday:

But I honestly think they are planning something special for the 25 year anniversary, so who knows...

I think there are people out there who'd love to know what is happening in Twin Peaks today, in 2014, twenty-four years later.

technically the show took place in 1989
