It's been about six years in the making -- or at least it seems like they've been talking about it that long -- but a pipedream comedy is not only finally happening, it now has a concrete release date.

When he isn't writing or directing, the continually busy and multitasking Adam McKay is producing, and this year alone has seen his hands on a number of films including "The Campaign," "The Dictator," "Casa De Mi Padre," "Bachelorette" and "Tim And Eric's Billion Dollar Movie." They all range from big studio summer movies to smaller scale indies, but none of those are as intimate or personal as "Fully Loaded." McKay teamed with Jeremy Piven to executive produce the picture, and as it hits VOD this week, we chatted with the filmmaker about what drew him to the project.

If you look across Adam McKay's filmography, you'll see that his comedy usually comes in pairs: Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton in "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby"; Allen and Terry in "The Other Guys" and hell, even Ron and Baxter" in "Anchorman." And even his latest producing venture on "Fully Loaded" centers on a pair, this time a couple of single Moms (Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin) whose one-night-on-the-town journey for a hook up finds them comedically reflecting on their lives, past relationships, children and more. We chatted yesterday with McKay, and asked him about another one of his famed comic pairs, Brendan and Dale from "Step Brothers," and if we'll ever get a chance to see them on the big screen again.

To say that Adam McKay is busy would be an understatement. The writer/producer/director has about a half dozen various projects on the go, and when we caught up with him this afternoon, he was in the midst of doing interviews for dark indie comedy "Fully Loaded," which he executive produced. Directed by Shira Piven, and written by and starring Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin (who based it on their play from Uprights Citizens Brigade), the film chronicles one night on the town with two single Moms, whose journey for a hook up finds them comedically reflecting on their lives, past relationships, children and more.

Despite a successful run over at Columbia directing "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby," "Step Brothers" and "The Other Guys," that wasn't enough for Sony to get on board for Adam McKay's adaptation of the comic book "The Boys." The studio axed development on the movie back in February, and it's not entirely difficult to see why. The ultra violent work by Garth Ennis is definitely a major gear change from the comedies McKay is known for, but it appears another studio is throwing their hat in the ring.

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have long recognized just how funny Rob Riggle is, casting him in their projects like "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby," "Step Brothers" and "The Other Guys." Now, they are rallying behind the actor to give him the lead role he's so long deserved on a pretty amazing sounding comedy project.

While it would be unfair to call it the worst kept secret in the movie universe, it's something that most movie bloggers know -- and something a few of them have already reported on, though there's been little concrete information thus far. A teaser trailer for "Anchorman 2" will appear in front of Sacha Baron Cohen's upcoming comedy "The Dictator," which opens next Wednesday, May 16th. Confirmed? Nope. But feel free to bet the farm on Odin's Raven. You can have the keys to our blog if it doesn't happen (cool, right guys?).

This is a project that has been in development so long we figured it was simply never going to happen. First picked up way back in 2002 by Warner Bros. as a starring vehicle for Will Smith, the project has been kicked around for over a decade and David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers") was long attached to direct. A year ago, there was some fresh movement when "Role Models" scribe Timothy Dowling was brought on to give the script a fresh rewrite, with Denzel Washington now linked to the project. And it was only in March that the writer teased the remake of the 1974 would -- for better or worse -- be in the vein of "The Hangover" in the tone it was aiming for. Hmm...maybe it's going for "The Other Guys" instead?

"We've done about two per cent! Half a per cent? We've got five pages of story notes and chunks of story. We're holing up writing for the next three months," Adam McKay tells Empire about the development of the "Anchorman 2" script. And while there is still a lot of time for things to change, shift and evolve, it's pretty clear that he and Will Ferrell have got a general idea about where the story will go. The good news is that the period setting will remain, the even better news is that we're going to another big gang fight. No word yet if the man on fire will return.
