Okay, we didn't see this coming. At all. At only sixteen years old, Chloe Moretz is already looking to push the envelope with the roles she'll take on, featuring in the grimy indie "Hick" (which by all accounts was pretty awful) while this fall she'll reign in terror as "Carrie." But taking the part of a young prostitute? Like we said, didn't see this one coming...

Because he doesn't have enough projects on this plate already....wait, do we have to, really? Okay: the boxing drama "Southpaw"; a Miles Davis biopic; heist flick "Chicagoland"; "Steel Town" for Legendary; a Suge Knight documentary for Showtime (recently wrapped); the thriller "Storming Las Vegas"; a Chinese language historical epic and possibly the "24" movie. Like we said, dude is not without options, but none of those above would have him re-teaming with his "Training Day" star Denzel Washington.

This weekend, Washington D.C. gets pulverized in “Olympus Has Fallen,” and director Antoine Fuqua wouldn’t have it any other way. The man in charge of this star-studded production boasted during press day of the glee he took in demolishing a national landmark, designed as a set in Shreveport, Louisiana. He looked forward every day to, “Tearing it up, shooting it up, making it real.”

Antoine Fuqua has been a busy man: the “Training Day” helmer has “Olympus Has Fallen” about to hit theaters, just as his hands are in several pies, developing many upcoming projects. We caught up with him during press for the White House siege film, and while he could only reveal that there were several balls in the air, he did confirm the death of a project he was linked to, the big-screen adaptation of his series “24.”

One of the many zillion projects Antoine Fuqua has been linked to in the past while is "Southpaw," a boxing flick once mooted as a vehicle for Eminem (he's since moved on to focus on his music). Last spring, the movie got put on the backburner by Sony and MGM, and then it pretty much fell off the radar. But now it's back to life at a new home.

After "Machine Gun Preacher," "Playing For Keeps" and "Chasing Mavericks" (and we'll just go ahead an presume the omnibus comedy "Movie 43" is going to tank hard this weekend) Gerard Butler is in desperate need of a hit. Why on Earth he signed on to the cheaper, ripoff version of Roland Emmerich and Channing Tatum's "White House Down" is a question best left to his agent we guess, but FilmDistrict and Millenium are making sure theirs gets into theaters first. But judging by the new trailer for "Olympus Has Fallen," we'll be just fine waiting a few more months.

A little over one week in theaters, and after a tremendous Christmas weekend opening for the film garnering $64 million, director Spike Lee might just have played a key role in the success of Quentin Tarantino's “Django Unchained.” His public refusal to see the western, calling it “disrespectful to my ancestors,” raised the film's profile to perhaps its highest political platform, and as fierce analysis of the ambitiously wild project continues post-release, another director has come to the movie's defense.

It seems like we've been talking about this film for years now, but it looks like there may have been some significant progression of the Don Cheadle-shepherded film about jazz icon Miles Davis. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal (via ShadowAndAct), Davis Estate heirs Erin Davis and Vince Wilburn Jr. have revealed that project will no longer see Cheadle at the helm -- as has been the plan for as long as we remember -- and that Antoine Fuqua is now slated to direct the picture that has previously been described as a '70's cubist gangster pic.

Proof that every derivative idea that floats through Hollywood requires at least two versions, Nu Image/Millennium is pushing forward with their own "'Die Hard' in the White House" film now that Sony/Columbia purchased James Vanderbilt's spec script "White House Down," at the end of last month, for a whopping $3 million.
