Last year's "Shrek Forever After" was billed as the "final chapter" in the DreamWorks fairytale franchise, but with the four films grossing nearly $3 billion worldwide between them ("Shrek 2" remains the fifth biggest domestic grosser), the likelihood of Katzenberg & Co leaving the series alone was minimal. And so, barely 18 months after the fourth "Shrek," we'll see "Puss In Boots," a spin-off focusing on the Zorro-esque kitty voiced by Antonio Banderas in the second, third and fourth films.

Hard to believe that over the course of their red meat-eatin' action careers, Sylvester Stallone and Walter Hill never crossed paths. Hill has directed the likes of Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and the immortal James Remar, but not once has he been associated with the headstrong star of "Rocky," "Rambo" and "The Expendables." That may change as Hill may be climbing aboard "Headshots," the action picture starring Stallone which was left orphaned after director Wayne Kramer exited over creative differences.

Billy Bob Thornton Suiting Up For 'Bad Santa 2'

That didn't take very long. Last November, Billy Bob Thornton first hinted that "Bad Santa 2" was in development saying that it was something he "actually would like to do. I’ve never done a sequel to one of my movies, but that one makes sense to me to do it.” A month later, The Weinstein Company struck a deal with the current owners of Miramax to help develop sequels and television spinoffs to a number of prominent catalog titles including “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Copland,” “From Dusk Till Dawn,” “Swingers,” “Clerks,” “Shall We Dance,” “The Amityville Horror,” "Rounders," "Shakespeare In Love" and yes, "Bad Santa." Well, it looks like contracts are now being drafted up.

Robert Duvall Joins Billy Bob Thornton's Next Directorial Effort 'Jayne Mansfield's Car'

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Robert Duvall revealed at last Friday’s Critic Choice Movie Awards that he's eying Billy Bob Thornton’s “Jayne Mansfield’s Car," his next directorial effort. Thornton first revealed the project late last year, and the film will find him starring and directing a script he co-wrote with Tom Epperson, with whom he worked on "One False Move" and "A Family Thing" that starred Duvall.

'Bad Santa 2' Also In The Works Midway through what's now nearly 25 years in the film business, Billy Bob Thornton gave his career new life by writing, directing and acting in the drama "Sling Blade," picking up a Best Screenplay Academy Award for his troubles. While the film quickly became an easy punchline (really, who among 1990s stand-up comedians didn't have a Sling Blade impersonation in their repertoire?), it holds up well today, and seemed to signal the arrival of a major directorial talent.
