There is no doubt that no matter what Brandon Cronenberg decided to make as his first movie, the shadow of his father would loom large. So whether it just runs in the family, or if it was a calculated decision to do something audiences would expect from the Cronenberg mantle, full credit to Brandon for taking body horror to the next level with "Antiviral." While hardly perfect, it delivers the freak fest that fans of David have been missing for the past few years while establishing Brandon as a filmmaker with a bright future.

With David busy exploring coiled sexuality in "A Dangerous Method" and the decline of a young billionaire in "Cosmopolis," Brandon tackles celebrity with enough blood, pus, bone and needles in "Antiviral" to fill a few movies, and the first full trailer is here to give you a taste.

One of the greatest things about film festivals, one of the things that gets you through the worst films, the lack of sleep, and the terrible B.O. of your fellow moviegoers, is the chance to discover new talent. You'll see absolute newcomers blast off into the stratosphere, or relatively well-known faces suddenly show what they've always been capable of, and it's never less than a thrill.

Everything we've seen so far of Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral" has promised a leaf out of his father's book and, based on early positive word from the Croisette, it looks like Cronenberg Jr. has definitely delivered. We now have a the first clip from the picture, which sees the young helmer turn up the creep levels a few notches with his lead Caleb Landry Jones, who played Banshee in Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."
