The Husband, Bruce McDonald
Guys, what would you do if you suddenly became the husband of the wife who was guilty of having sex with a 14 year-old schoolboy? No doubt the question has been asked a thousand times at some point, and it's what makes up the basic premise of Bruce McDonald's latest feature “The Husband.” If the name sounds familiar than you're probably a “Hard Core Logo” fan.

The Husband, Bruce McDonald
While not as much of a household name as David Cronenberg, Canadian director Bruce McDonald ("Hard Core Logo," "Pontypool") largely exemplifies the spirit of Canadian film with his oddball narratives and low budget inventiveness, and has become a well-known favorite of the Toronto International Film Festival, where his latest opus, the dark comedy "The Husband," premiered last night. We're very happy to exclusively debut the poster for the film, along with a trailer, clip and photos from the film. It's a McDonald McOverload!

There are two ways we can approach this story, either as a statement on Canadian director Bruce McDonald's seemingly endless slate of projects or as yet another journey for the helmer into music based material. But really, both apply. Coming off a year that saw McDonald release "Hardcore Logo 2," the short film "A Love Supreme" as well as get behind the camera on a handful of TV projects, 2012 is barely two weeks old and he's already packing up his schedule.

There are few other directors -- Canadian or otherwise -- to whom music plays such a key ingredient in their work than Bruce McDonald. Joining the select ranks of folks like Cameron Crowe, Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino (though with an much more mixed output) McDonald's films are as identifiable by their musical milieu as they are by anything else. And lately, he's been rocking it pretty hard. In 2010, the ever prolific director delivered three movies: the prison centered documentary "Music From The Big House"; the Broken Social Scene powered concert film/romance "This Movie Is Broken" and the rock 'n roll reunion tale "Trigger." Heading into this year, McDonald didn't stop, with "Hard Core Logo 2" a sequel of sorts to his cult classic hitting theaters as well as the short film "A Love Supreme" whose title should be famililar to any music fan. But that's not all.
