The Rover
Fear The Man With Nothing Left To Lose. So goes the tagline of David Michod's "The Rover" starring Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, and with the film now headed to Cannes, A24 has dropped a new trailer and a couple of posters for the thriller. And yes, it looks pretty damn good.

Robert Pattinson’s clout-building continues in 2014 though it technically has barely begun. Pattinson’s post-“Twilight” career rehab started with David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” and the film world took notice. Auteurs, perhaps needing a viable start to greenlight their projects, took notice too. Werner Herzog came knocking (“Queen Of The Desert”), James Gray (“The Lost City of Z”), Cronenberg again (“Maps to the Stars”), Anton Corbijn ("Life") and many others. One of the earliest adopters was Aussie filmmaker David Michôd who quickly cast him in “The Rover” opposite Guy Pearce.

The Simpsons Lego
With "The Rover," his follow-up to the highly lauded “Animal Kingdom” set for release this summer, David Michôd has free time on his schedule and decided to head to the small screen. Per Deadline, Michôd will helm the pilot episode for the Starz series “Flesh And Bone” from “Breaking Bad” staff writer Moira Walley-Beckett. The series follows “a young ballet dancer, Claire, who has a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York.” Sounds like "Black Swan: The Series." Michôd previously helmed an episode of the now-cancelled Mike White HBO comedy “Enlightened.”

The Rover
Four, far too long years have passed since David Michôd shook up the cinematic world with his nerve jangling gangland drama "Animal Kingdom," but it looks the wait has been worth it. The director is back with "The Rover," and judging by the first teaser trailer, he'll once again be putting you on the edge of your seat.

To say that Robert Pattinson has been filling his post-"Twilight" calendar with ambitious films would be an understatement. This weekend brings his trippy David Cronenberg odyssey "Cosmopolis," and over the past few weeks and months, the actor has signed on to a handful of interesting films, including "Mission: Blacklist" about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, Werner Herzog's historical tale "Queen of the Desert" and "Animal Kingdom" director David Michôd's "The Rover." And it's the latter about which the actor has shared some tantalizing details.

If the final season of “Breaking Bad” airs in two halves, does that mean there’s actually two seasons left? In the end, it doesn’t matter – AMC has confirmed the show’s return on July 15th, and that should be enough cause for celebration. Eight episodes will air over the summer, then leave our fall and winter without resolution, before coming back in the summer of 2013. Star Bryan Cranston essentially confirmed all this back in March, but apparently the man is not yet verified as an official news source, sadly. [AV Club]

There is no doubt that after making a huge statement with "Animal Kingdom," that Hollywood would be interested in Australian director David Michod. He was wishlisted for the Irish-American cop drama "Once Were Cops" and there was likely more than one project studo execs wanted to send his way. However, for this followup to the acclaimed crime family drama, Michod is staying in his native home, and working with a longtime collaborator instead.

Few films in 2010 packed the heat and intensity of “Animal Kingdom,” David Michod’s intense crime saga about a family on the wrong side of the gun. We reviewed it earlier this year, and recently sat down with the friendly and talented Michod to discuss the particulars of the film as it gains heat in the awards race (particularly for the performance by Jacki Weaver). The talented Aussie director chatted with us about the Australian film industry, being compared to “Goodfellas,” and mustaches.

Aussie Filmmaker Also Says He Knew Nothing About Project 'Once Were Cops' He Was Allegedly A Frontrunner ForExclusive: Aussie director David Michôd's "Animal Kingdom" is, if nothing else, one of the most exciting debut feature-length efforts of the year. The picture won the World Cinema Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and this intense crime family drama is loaded with slow-burning performances from several Australian up-and-comers including Ben Mendelsohn, Joel Edgerton, Jacki Weaver, Sullivan Stapleton and of course, the well known Guy Pearce.
