So which David O. Russell will appear for "The Silver Linings Playbook"? The movie, about an institutionalized man (played by Bradley Cooper) who returns to his parents (Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro) and falls in love with a similarly unwell woman (Jennifer Lawrence), also marks first time anybody's seen Chris Tucker since "Rush Hour 3" (in a dialed down performance) and it's hard to gauge thus far where it will land tonally. Will it be something a bit more screwball like "Flirting With Disaster" or "I Heart Huckabees," or a deft blend of comedy and drama like "The Fighter"?

The sorry saga of David O. Russell's "Nailed" is really a cautionary tale of working with shady financiers. The tale is one that has been told a few times over in the past couple of years, but in case you missed out, we'll recap it for you.

David O. Russell isn't always known for having the healthiest relationships with the stars in his films, but it seems he and Robert De Niro got along just fine on the set of the upcoming "Silver Linings Playbook." And the two will collaborate on a new project that will take them to the small screen.

The big talk of the week has been Sight & Sound's once-every-decade greatest films of all time list as determined by critics from around the world. However, the publication also take the temperature from film directors, asking for greatest lists from 358 filmmakers around the world, and collating the votes into a separate top 10. As we reported previously, "Tokyo Story" topped the list, with "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Citizen Kane" just behind (read the full top 10 here).

We can' t have been the only one that felt that Amy Adams got a little cheated at the Oscars a few years back. Melissa Leo is a wonderful actress, and was very good in "The Fighter," but she wasn't even in the Best Supporting Actress in that film, let alone among the nominees. That particular honor went to Adams, who was tremendous in David O. Russell's film, and if we'd had our way, it would have been her walking away with the statuette in February 2011, not Leo.

Looks like Aaron Cross is taking over for Bruce Wayne. With Christian Bale busy hanging out with Terrence Malick and a bunch of beautiful women for the rest of 2012 on "Knight Of Cups" and the movie formerly known as "Lawless," it means he has to bounce out of David O. Russell's "American Bullshit." But a worthy replacement is in the wings.

While The Weinstein Company have quickly gotten the buzz started around Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" and Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," they've been a bit slower on rolling out the campaign for David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" after all three screened footage early for press at the Cannes Film Festival. Well, let it begin as the first trailer has arrived, and yes, it shows some strong promise.

Sandwiched between Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" and Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" was the oddball of The Weinstein Company presentation this evening at the Cannes Film Festival. Not that there's anything wrong with it specifically, but just coming in the middle of two much more ambitious, auteur driven movies, only emphasized just how...ordinary and run-of-the-mill Russell's film felt.

David O. Russell isn't straying too far from his recent tried and true collaborations. Reports surfaced earlier this year that Christian Bale and his "Fighter" director would be re-teaming again for a Black List script called, "American Bullshit." Written by Eric Warren Singer ("The International"), and a project that Ben Affleck was eyeing in January, it appears that not only is Bale in talks to star, but Russell's most-current lead Bradley Cooper (he stars in "The Silver Linings Playbook") is on board as well.
