Guy Pearce has been having a pretty damn good year in 2012. The actor's been moving towards stardom since "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert" and "L.A. Confidential" fifteen years ago, and looked to turn into a megastar after "Memento," but when big-budget studio picture "The Time Machine" was a flop, he seemed to shift back into being a character actor, delivering many memorable turns ("The Proposition," "Factory Girl") but mostly resisiting stardom. But in the last few years, he's had a flurry of success: small roles in two Oscar-winners in two years with "The Hurt Locker" and "The King's Speech," a homegrown hit with "Animal Kingdom," and an Emmy for "Mildred Pierce."

Musician and composer Dustin O'Halloran has been moving slowly into film scoring in the past few years after popping up on the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" in 2006. Since then, O'Halloran has scored films like 2009's "An American Affair" and last year's "Like Crazy," which became one of our favorite scores of the year. Therefore, it is our great delight to discover that O'Halloran will score the next film for "Like Crazy" director Drake Doremus as well.

Rising U.K. Star & Sundance Breakout Actress Wants To Play A Superhero Or A SnakeHow's your 2011 been? Pretty good? Even so, we bet you've not had as good a year as Felicity Jones is having. The 27-year-old Brit has been working away for over ten years, starting with kids' TV favorite "The Worst Witch" and long-running radio drama "The Archers," with more recent roles on both the small screen ("Doctor Who," "Northanger Abbey") and the big ("Cheri," "Brideshead Revisited," "The Tempest"), but she's headed into the stratosphere in the last twelve months.

And More We Learned From The Director Of The Sundance Award-Winning Romance The Sundance Grand Jury Prize is traditionally something of a kiss of death for an indie, in terms of gaining a wider audience. Irrespective of the quality of the film, the likes of "Girls Town," "Sunday," "Three Seasons," "Slam," "Forty Shades of Blue," "Quinceanera" and "Padre Nuestro" never really set the world alight, did they? But things have changed in recent years, with the last two winners, "Precious" and "Winter's Bone," both picking up Best Picture Academy Award nominations, and this year's victorious movie has just as good a good chance at crossing over to a more mainstream audience

Newcomer Mackenzie Davis Also On BoardIt has been a pretty nice year for Drake Doremus. He walked away from the Sundance Film Festival with fantastic buzz for his lo-fi tale of long-distance love "Like Crazy" along with a Grand Jury Prize under his belt for the effort, and he's used that momentum to get his next project rolling. Announced last month, not much was known about the project except that it would reunite him with "Like Crazy" star Felicity Jones, and also feature Guy Pearce and Amy Ryan, with the story centering on "love and marriage." Well two new actors have joined the film and in the process some details on the story have landed.

Drake Doremus Says New Film With Guy Pearce & Amy Ryan A "Darker Cousin" To 'Like Crazy'The journey to Sundance is difficult as it is, but leaving is even harder as after all the hard work filmmakers put into their efforts, only very few leave Park City with the kind of buzz that Drake Doremus' "Like Crazy" has. With a Grand Jury Prize for Doremus and Special Jury Prize for Felicity Jones, the film which also co-stars Anton Yelchin and features Jennifer Lawrence in a small role as well, walked away with a distribution deal with Paramount and a wave of momentum for the director. But sometimes, to make that leap to a bigger stage you have to make some concessions, and in the case of "Like Crazy," it looks like Doremus had to make some tweaks to the movie in order to make sure its potential wasn't just limited to those aged 18 and over.

Sundance may be located in the middle-of-nowhere Utah, be a pain the ass to get to and be ridiculous expensive but there is a reason every budding filmmaker dreams of taking the journey -- it can make (or break) your career. For Drake Doremus, he saw everything change with his low key long-distance romance tale "Like Crazy." After directing three little seen features, Doremus soon found himself as the center of attention with the picture earning strong reviews, great buzz for the performances by Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones and walked away from the festival with a distribution deal with Paramount. And oh yeah, he also took home a Grand Jury Prize for his film as well. Not bad. Well, he's riding that wave into his next effort and he's lined up a solid cast to work with.

One of the most buzzed about films at this year's Sundance Film Festival had to be indie filmmaker Drake Doremus' "Like Crazy." Touted as the next "Blue Valentine," the mostly improvised film about a long-distance romance won the Grand Jury Prize and was bought by Paramount for the sum of $4 million. The drama stars Anton Yelchin, features a breakout performance by Felicity Jones and has "Katniss Everdeen" Jennifer Lawrence in a supporting role, so with the right marketing push the film should have no trouble being a modest hit for the studio. Our reviewer called it "a familiar tale, well told" and this writer has to agree. (The film doesn't make it clear why Jones might fall for Yelchin but if you can get past that, it really nails the pain of separation.)
