Despite the semi-confusion at Comic-Con this weekend, Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" was officially announced as a Marvel film. Or at least, for a good 30-40 minutes after Marvel's presentation of Wright's well-received "Ant-Man" test-footage, no one in the audience, journalists included, could agree whether the film had been officially announced or not. Marvel Studio's website cleared that up with an official movie logo. The commotion, in part, was perhaps because unlike all the other titles officially announced, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Guardians Of The Galaxy," etc., "Ant-Man" had not received a release date and still doesn't have one.

It was a clever ruse. While Marvel Studios planned for its late day panel of "Iron Man 3," British filmmaker Edgar Wright tweeted away the morning as if he was in London, England, even referencing San Diego's Comic-Con. But in a not-so-surprise move this evening (the cat was out of the bag earlier in the day), Wright joined Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, ahead of the "Iron Man 3" panel to show off recent test-footage shot for "Ant-Man."

Well, we figured it was pretty much a done deal since the last announcement, but good news has arrived on Day 2 of Comic-Con: Universal have officially given the green light to "The World's End," the latest film from director Edgar Wright and co-writer/star Simon Pegg, which will close out their unofficial trilogy that started with "Shaun Of The Dead" and continued with "Hot Fuzz."

It looks like Marvel and Kevin Feige are going to have a lot of questions to answer in a few weeks at Comic-Con. Fresh off news circulating that "Guardians Of The Galaxy" is being geared up for a 2014 release, another "Ant-Man" update has arrived, and, more exciting for fans, news that Walt Disney Animation is set to tackle its first animated movie.

Word that “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” filmmaker Edgar Wright would be reuniting with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to complete their “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” with “The World’s End” surprised many of us when the news arrived back at the beginning of May. All three creative minds have been very busy with a variety of projects since "Hot Fuzz," but with lensing set to begin in September, Wright and Pegg are beginning to tease out what fans can expect from their next collaboration.

Some directors -- very few, when it comes down to it -- are terrifyingly prolific. Steven Soderbergh, Michael Winterbottom, Woody Allen -- all of them seem to make pretty much a film a year like clockwork, and sometimes even more than that. But given scheduling issues, financing problems, and, for the very best directors, the time it takes to actually get a script right, the vast majority of filmmakers end up making a film every three or four years if they're lucky. This can make the wait between films agonizing for fans of a director.

It's now nearly two years since "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World," the firecracker kung-fu romantic comedy that became a critical and fan favorite, even if it never quite set the box-office alight. The film's still playing monthly at rep theaters like the New Beverley in L.A, an instant cult classic, but for nearly 24 months, there's been very little news as to what Wright might do next. He's not been out of the spotlight, thanks to his scripting of "The Adventures of Tintin" and executive producing of "Attack The Block" and "Sightseers," the latter of which will premiere at Cannes in the next couple of weeks. And there have been projects percolating: more writing work has happened on Marvel's "Ant-Man," and the mysterious "Baby Driver" is also on the dance card somewhere, while the director was snapped up by megastar Johnny Depp to direct a new film version of "The Night Stalker" a few months back.

Unless you were living in the alternate dimension created by the Tesseract cube this weekend, you probably know that the jolly green Hulk and his fellow “The Avengers” swept any box office competition away with a record-breaking $200.3 million opening weekend. While the public is certainly lapping up director Joss Whedon’s superhero opus, they’re also eager to see what’s next from Marvel Studios. Many are wondering if we'll be seeing more heroes making their way to the screen, with a number of potential candidates in the mix. Well, one potential frontrunner has re-entered the rumor mill thanks to a tweet from “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” helmer Edgar Wright on Saturday.
