True Detective
It looks like "The Hunger Games" pals Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth are eager to spend their time away from the YA franchise together as well. Future bromance? We'll see, but this project does sound interesting. The pair will star in the revenge western "By Way Of Helena."

Michael Bay, Transformers: Age Of Exctinction
While his passion for explosions and Victoria's Secret models suggests that Michael Bay is a total bro at heart, it would seem that he's got a soft spot for endangered animals. With the director spending much of the last several years making branded toys clang and crash, he also took a detour to make the (relatively) smaller movie "Pain & Gain" last year, and it would seem he's toying with an idea for another effort that will not involve Hasbro or CGI.

Wish You Were Here, Joel Edgerton, Teresa Palmer
With a membership that includes Joel Edgerton, Nash Edgerton, David Michôd, Spencer Susser and more, it's safe to say that the Blue Tongue Films collective isn't lacking in talent. And while the name Kieran Darcy-Smith might not be the most familiar of the group, he more than matches the talent his colleagues have shown across their projects, and his feature debut "Wish You Were Here" shows another strong filmmaking voice emerging from Blue Tongue.

There is nothing better to have in Hollywood than options, and Aussie helmer and Blue Tongue Films collective member Kieran Darcy-Smith is learning that lesson. The actor arrived at Sundance earlier this year with his debut feature, "Wish You Were Here," and while not exactly a breakout hit, it seems to have provided more than enough momentum to get some projects set up. He's already slated to helm a segment of the omnibus "Sydney Unplugged," this fall he lined up the thriller "By Way Of Helena" and he's got an untitled romance kicking around as well. Now comes another project and should all the chips fall into place, it will be his next.

What do you get when you pair the director of a buzzed-about Sundance hit with a Black List script? You get cautiously optimistic about the prospect of an indie hit, that’s what. Australian director Kieran Darcy-Smith brought his debut feature “Wish You Were Here” to Sundance earlier this year, and the Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer-starring drama was met by pretty decent reviews. Now he’s lining up his next feature.

Anthology films are back in vogue after the relative success of the "Cities of Love" project which spawned "Paris, je t'aime" and "New York, I Love You," while there are plans for similar films in Rio, Shanghai, Jerusalem and Berlin. While the finished products are almost always (and perhaps inevitably) a mixed bag, it's easy to see why these projects appeal to filmmakers. The process is fairly brief, it guarantees their short film distribution (unless you're Scarlett Johansson that is), attracts high-profile talent at a cut price, and allows them to pay tribute to a city they have a special connection to.

After conquering Park City with "Animal Kingdom" two years ago, several members of the Blue Tongue Films gang are set to return to the snowy city once again next month for Kieran Darcy-Smith's directorial debut, "Wish You Were Here," which will also serve as the festival's opening night film premiere.
