Robert De Niro is getting back in the family, and no, we don't mean another 'Fockers' movie. Rather, he's getting back in the organized family way, once again entering the game of legitimate business dealings, and starring in the latest from Luc Besson, "The Family" (which you probably knew about under it's previous title "Malavita"). For both director and star, they've had a patchy last few years, with both highlights ("Silver Linings Playbook" and "Stone" for De Niro) and lowlights (wait, what was the last good movie Besson directed?). Can they form a power pairing here?

Hal Hartley’s recent work hasn’t been as high profile as his films back in the ‘90s, but it looks like the director is back in action yet again, with a continuation of one of his best known pictures. This time, the project is “Ned Rifle,” which is a follow-up to his previous films “Henry Fool” and “Fay Grim.” Parker Posey, Liam Aiken, and Thomas J. Ryan are all returning to reprise their characters, starring alongside Gemma Arterton. Production on the film is slated to begin later this year with Fortissimo Films taking on sales rights in Cannes.

Remember when Luc Besson said he was retiring? That was pretty funny (and short-lived). Dude has never been busier and is a mogul now, first and foremost, at the head of the very successful production house EuropaCorp. And the Besson brand, for better or worse, now stands in for mid-budget action fare like "Taken," "Columbiana" and "Lockout" that even if they don't do well in theaters, don't cost much to make, and tend to have a long shelf life. And while as a director he's currently working on "Malavita" with Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer, it looks like he's ready to return to his familiar milieu of women kicking ass.

McG is like a classic timex watch. He takes a lickin', but keeps on tickin'. "This Means War" was routinely included in Worst Of 2012 lists (including ours), "Terminator Salvation" took a beating in 2009, and the rest of his career hasn't fared much better outside of the kinetic, high-level octane of "Charlie's Angels" that critics were soon complaining about in its sequel. But not everyone makes films for critics, obviously. His upcoming film, an untitled thriller produced by Luc Besson that stars Kevin Costner, just got a bump from its newly announced cast.

Mentioned as possibilities earlier this month, it looks like the deals went through. McG ("Terminator Salvation") will direct the Luc Besson-produced and co-written thriller previously known as "Three Days To Kill." Now untitled, according to Relativity Media, as suggested, Kevin Costner will star as a dying assassin who wants to reconcile with his daughter while embarking on his final mission.

We’ve given a lot of credit to Tommy Lee Jones recently for his willingness to step out so late in his career and try on different hats, like writing, directing, and starring in the pioneer-era tale “The Homesman,” as well as going a little more comedic (and raunchy) than he’s used to in the Meryl Streep co-starring “Hope Springs.” And now he’s set to star in a dark comedy/action mish-mash for Luc Besson. While other aging talent remains comfortable turning in repetitive or forgetable performances, Jones just keeps on rolling.

It may seem like a while ago, but at the tail end of 2011, heat started to build up around a movie featuring the blockbuster pairing of star Angelina Joile and director Luc Besson. Universal Pictures snapped up 80% of the worldwide distribution rights to the movie and then...Jolie decided to make "Maleficent" next. But not to worry, this project is still very much on schedule and it looks like it will be going up next for both Jolie and Besson.

In the futurist world of "Lockout," most deadly convicts will be confined to MS-One, a maximum security prison floating in outer space. It’s not long from now (2079, to be exact) strongly suggesting the cultural shift in our society’s interest in interstellar exploration has gone from possibly exploring other planets to merely depositing our human detritus into the galaxy’s gaping maw. It’s a good thing most of these cryosleeping convicts are deranged, irredeemable nutcases, right?
